Thanks. Ideally, I want to get into I-banking then Private Equity but my Finance degree is from a non-target school. I'm currently in the military but I'm trying to plan my post-military career path.

You can use the MBA to make the pivot. Especially if you get into a school like Booth or Wharton. Whenever you ready to make that move look into MLT as well.

If you wanna go IB—>PE then the MBA will your best bet to pivot into that industry.

Wharton, HBS, Booth, Columbia are your best bets for Finance placement but usually the BB banks and the top Niche firms generally recruit well from the Top 15.

Yeah. I went to Kellogg.

Best advice is to find the job you want, see what schools they recruit from, and go there. You may not need to go to a top program or even full time to fulfill your goal.

This.

Either go to a top 10-20 school

Not this. Do not waste your money on a school just for name recognition. I know senior managers that pull 200K with degrees from low tier schools. If your network is solid, you have name recognition at your company, and you can show results, you DO NOT need a degree from a high profile school (but you do need a degree).

Top 10 schools do matter if you are going for a C-suite role in many of the top corporations (mostly because of the network). I don't know how ambitious breh is but for a 200k position, sure he can go to tons of schools and be straight but if breh is looking at a 2 million dollar C-suite position, a lot easier if you went to a top 10 MBA program. Again it's not a requirement but does go a long way, especially today as the MBA market is saturated.

Not sure why brehs are diminishing going to a top program like Wharton, Booth, and Kellogg. It most definitely opens doors and makes things easier.

Many of the guys don't really know anything. To them, $200K is really making it. Whereas schools like Wharton, Booth, and Kellogg open up opportunities to make 7 figures plus. It's a reason why schools like Wharton and Harvard produce many billionaires. Both Robert Smith and Reginald Lewis graduated from Ivy league professional schools.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just worried about the GMAT. Historically, I have always struggled with standardized exams.

you got this shyt bro, just prepare and if you don’t get to the number you were hoping for. Reopen the books then retake it. I’ll probably end up retaking it at least 3 times.

Thank you so much for the reinsurance. I know this sounds ambitious. My vision is to first create a multi-billion holding company (i.e: Berkshire Hathaway) and then use my wealth as the Koch Brothers do but instead, fund organizations, institutions, and leaders that empower Black Americans.

Dont know if it was mentioned but you should take a GMAT prep course and get the software. I dont have issues with standardized tests but they will help you out substantially.
