Strokes can cause certain types of dementia and/or Alzheimer's. Depending on what part of the brain was effected. Each stroke patient is unique and recovery varies.
I recommend going to agingcare.com forums for advice. I took care of a stroke survivor before and there is some great advice on that site.
Beware of doctors prescribing a bunch of antidepressants and antipsychotics. That shyt is poison and will do more harm than good. It's chemical restraint. Drug them up to shut them up. Dont do it.
Look into CBD oil or edibles if you want to go the natural route. Its helped a lot for the person I looked out for.
It's a long journey and fukking hard. Just do with your mom what she loved to do before the stroke. Show her old pics and videos from back in the day and dont believe that "improvement only happens in the first 6 months" it depends on the person. Keep encouraging her to get better.
