Does it hurt? I heard it is as painful as waxing

It is, but different. For me with waxing the area could be a bit sore for hours after. With laser as soon as the laser is moved to another section the pain is gone. Some areas hurt more than others. Pubic area hurts the most for me. The lips and soft moist areas hurt like a bytch, armpits not so much, thighs not at all. You will be able to have a fluent conversation with your therapist.

The hairs also grows finer each time, like very fine body hair. You may only need 6 a maximum of 12. They are done once a month, 6 weeks maximum.

Well I aint even black though, I'm beige with dark black hairs lol.

I guess you're the right person to talk to. I remember telling people to use laser and they were like "You know how expensive that is? It's like 500 a session for upper chest alone and you have to go at least 6 times". This was years ago. So I guess there's plenty of businesses of it everywhere so the supply is more than the demand.

I just coincidentally ran up on it and these groupon links right before I made the thread and seen like 130 results in my city alone.

Couple questions.

1. All these offers are like 6 sessions for 200 bucks (ie. full arms, chest and abdomen, etc). After those 6 sessions, will I never grow hair again? Will I grow the same amount I have currently a year later? Will it just reach 50% of what I have now?

2. I keep hearing about laser radiation will lead to health problems in the future (ie. cancer), true?

3. Keeping it 100, I'm contemplating my butt too, yall had men come in for that? How much percent of the customers were men anyways?

4. Since there are so many groupon offers, how can I tell the difference between a good clinic and the substandard ones like you mentioned?

Anything else you believe is helpful let me know

Thanks

The laser unit is like a microwave. It produces the same effect whenever the button is pressed, no matter the machine. So the main difference is user operator. Be sure you're going to clinics with licensed (preferably certified) laser operators. A good operator will do a good job, irregardless of the machine. Most good operators tend to be found in more legitimate establishments like derm and plastic surgeon offices.

For laser hair removal to work two things are important. The have to use the laser most compatible with your skin type. The darker you are, the more chances you'll get burned due to the high melanin concentration in your skin that absorbs those lasers too well. White people have sparse melanocytes(melanin cells) so they rarely get burned with lasers. The ND yag works better with darker skin because the laser isn't absorbed as easy, therefore less burns. Unless you're a fair latino or lighter, ND Yag should be your laser of choice. If you're a real dark individual (midnight boyz, etc), laser may not be the best choice.

You'll need about 4-6 sessions for the laser to fully eliminate your hair growth. I had it done primarily on by beard due to me having an issue with razor bumps. Not that i've discovered some new pimple creams and beards are in, i'm low key regretting that decision.

Laser radiation in theory can and may result in cancer, but that's more an issue for the laser operator not you. Coming in once every 6 weeks for a treatment is no where near enough radiation exposure to be of concern.

As far as body parts and user demographics, biggest users are Arabs, Indians, and Gay men. Some women as well, but they tend to prefer higher class establishments. But as far as men, mostly gay men tend to come in for this procedure because they tend to hate hair. Brazilians are popular amongst more and more women though, as many hate the alternative (wax), etc

As far as clinics go, search for those affiliated with a plastic surgeon or Derm first. They're feeling the groupon burn too so they are desperate for business and will likely cut your a deal to get you in the door. A good strategy is once you see a groupon deal from a local plastic surgeon's office, call them direct and ask to pay them direct for the groupon deal. They'll almost always agree.

If you can't find a dr's office giving a deal, then look for clinics highly rated on yelp or google.

Lastly, for all this info, i expect some pics of the finished product....:shaq:

Anyways, hope this helps!

Mad respect for the lengthy reply. I'd rep if I could. What body part do you see men coming for mostly? Im a go for the arms and if they can give me a deal do the chest and abdomen. Straight up I'm tryna do my ass but then it'll look retarded with my leg hair and a hairless ass lmao.

Also I think you might've missed this q - After those 6 sessions, will I never grow hair again? Will I grow the same amount I have currently a year later? Will it just reach 50% of what I have now?

Didnt' realize groupon really f'ing up the game for so many spots

Are you a dude? I thought you were a female. Ignore pic request.

Dudes comes in for chest, back, and legs. Many gay dudes would routinely get full body. So don't be shamed. Most operators have seen and done everything. Just ensure you've shaved and clean up to reduce complications.

Hair will be significantly reduced after 6 treatments, assuming operator did it correctly. Again use better quality laser centers, although many high quality centers have stopped due to the price drop.

Yeah man. I thought I established that earlier LOL. I thought you might've interacted with too many gay clients and swung to the other side :russ:

Did you use Ideal Image? I was recently looking into that company. Do you know what the prices are like?

I did go through Ideal image and they have the Yaz laser, which is what people of color need. As for prices...depends on what you want. The consultation will cost you nothing.

I agree... for 90% men. For example, I don't understand how some have strands of hair on their arm, neck, etc and do laser removal.

However, would you rather have a man hairless arms or

?

I'd take him over a hairless man.

I get mine every 10 weeks...I only got the bikini and the underarms and even with this short amount of time, I'm good!
