Bro, I have a very close family member who is paranoid schizophrenic. She never talks about God (unless I bring Him up) or the devil. She’s functional when she’s on meds and dysfunctional when she isn’t. She has a college degree and has never been on drugs. Now something has always been there since she was a child and over the last 6-7 years, it was triggered. I feel I have a decent sense of discernment, and I’ve never associated her condition as some type of demonic activity (I work with people who regularly allow the devil to use them). Does she need prayer, of course. But she also needs a psychiatrist and some meds.

Your wording right there in the bold makes me immediately doubt your sense of discernment. Your not even completely convinced of your own sense of discernment

For me and people I know like me who discern it has nothing to do with the way we feel, discernment is by the holy spirit, it is a completely spiritual process for me. I know things in detail I shouldn't know, like some woman walked into my store where I worked and after once glance I knew she was involved in occult activities and I knew I just had to strike up a normal conversion with her and she would reveal all. Sure enough she opened up to me, about all sorts, there was no reason at all for me to know that or even suspect it, but it was through the holy spirit that I knew, and I also knew as long as I said hello the convo would end up with her confessing all to me without me even asking.

There's no such thing with me as 'I feel my discernment is decent or good' discernment has nothing to do with me, the holy spirit shows me things.

I can promise you if I spoke to your family member or anyone 'diagnosed' as schizophrenic I would pinpoint a spiritual door that is the root of it all. If you deal with demonically influenced people like you say and your from a family aware of said things demons will cover tracks and present things and operate in ways that cannot be discerned by your average believer, only by the holy spirits revelation.

Discernment is a gift from the Holy Spirit. It’s not a one size fits all gift, which is what truly makes it a gift. My wife has a much higher level than I have and I wouldn’t attribute it to her being more devout than me or anything like that. For whatever reason, God has chosen to bless her with this gift. But what does that mean for me? Does that mean the Holy Spirit doesn’t reveal or communicate things to me because I don’t have the gift she or you have?

Discernment is not a special gift it is something we as believers ALL are called to do. Show me where in the bible it says it is not a one size fits all?

That idea is a falsehood of modern day Christianity, to explain the fact they were are not walking in the power and authority given to us precisely because we do not walk with the desire and devotion and dedication we should. That is the truth.

The Christian church is a mess right bow because are not dedicated, we are not devout, our mind is on the world rather than God.

The truth is we should ALL be capable of these things and more, We should all be walking in the authority, the word was we have the power to do everything Christ did AND MORE. Why are we not there?

One of the main reasons I think this happens to me, because of how I speak to God. I spoke to God about his relationship with Abraham and Isaac, I read the word said Enoch walked with God and I asked why cannot I walk with God. Enoch is a man like me, if he walked with God then I wanted to walk with God.

Many are called by few are chosen, it is our dedication and desires and devotion that determines the strengths and powers we walk in. I know this personally cause when I am not walking right nothing is the same.

I believe we leave a lot untapped power and blessings on the table because we get in our own way. We will just have to agree to disagree on the other stuff.

Breh. I'm reading the Bible, following the instructions in the book of Matthew, given up my vices. Lust and party drugs.
Not letting the negativity of others affect my clarity and rationality.
Practicing patience and beginning to let go of my resentment.
Even working out some.
Pray the our father prayer, morning and night, in my mind.

What is next besides not falling into temptation and continue reading the Bible? Can you school me on fasting when it comes to following God?
I see it in Matthew 6:16-18
Fasting
16“And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

17But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

18that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
I thought fasting was exclusive to Muslims.

Read the bible. I have the King James version app that comes with a daily verse and devotion. You can favorite them which I really like because it's so much to memorize, not a computer.
It's user interface is nice

English standard version app so if I get confused I can refer to it. It's not my default because it's ugly and not packed with the features KJV has.

I will add screenshots in a minute.

You don't need to make an account for favorites, bookmarks and etc. You will if you get a new phone to not lose that.

The most important thing, one thing i cannot stress enough is you must seek to actually know God, on a personal level, to build an actual relationship with him because this is where alot of people fall. There is why when the hard times come and when the mass deception that is coming arrives in the world people will abandon the faith. It is the reason why there are so many Christians who have been reading the bible for years, attending church but yet know nothing, have experienced nothing and have made no progress. It is why the church is stale. The question what next you just asked me, you should be directing to him, expecting to receive one just as you expected to receive one from me, with even greater expectation in fact.

All the stories you read in the bible of Abraham, Enoch, Jacob, Joseph, Samuel etc.. You need to realise that you can know God on the level that they knew God if you desire too, that's what he wants from us most a desire to know him. He is not as far away as we think he is right there always. Ask for the holy spirit to fill you and guide you, ask to hear his voice, guide you and teach you wisdom and knowledge of the truth and his word. The real truth, wisdom and understanding only comes through revelation of the holy spirit. Continue to read the word daily but most importantly talk to him, like you would talk to any other person sat right next to you. Talk to him when your doing well, and if you happen to fall talk to him about your struggles, he is always there for real. God knows our hearts and minds anyway but i've noticed vocalising it to him honestly seems to mean alot to him. Also pray against the enemy cause if you start to try to know God like this he will work overtime on you, pray against his attempts to deceive you. Ask and desire for God to reveal himself fully to you.

More than anything do not be content knowing him through the pages of his word only and through reading of his works and his commandments, seek to know him personally.

For fasting i cant really give you a lowdown on that because i rarely ever fast, in fact i have only ever fasted once. It was the week leading up to that experience when the woman who was into the occult, and the kabbalah and communicated with spirits entered the store i worked at and as soon as i saw her i knew. I only fasted because i felt the push of the holy spirit, God was bugging me to fast for a while, his voice in my mind and i had a huge desire in me to fast out of nowhere. I gave in and for 7 days i ate and drank nothing, not even water. I spent my entire lunch break at work praying, id finish work go to the coffee shop round the corner and read the bible till it closed then id go home and sleep to repeat the next day, and at the end of that week in walked that woman. I wouldn't advise you to do what i did cause like i said i ate and drank nothing for 7 days, but maybe im the wrong person to ask cause for me all those questions i would direct to God. I ask him everything. I dont have like a blueprint for someone to follow, i feel like you should go to him in regards to each and every enquiry. He knows you better than i do, he knows what is next for you, he knows what he would want or need from you, everyone else is just guessing.

In the second book of Esdras, the prophet Ezra is speaking to God, asking for knowledge and understanding on things he doesn't understand, he seeks an explanation from God and an angel of God is sent to tell him to fast for a week and at the conclusion of his fast God will address the questions he brought before God. We dont need Angels dispatched these days as we have the holy spirit here with us, but it is an example of fasting because it was an instruction from God with an end purpose in mind.

We don’t fight for victory, we fight from victory. The enemy can’t penetrate the whole armor of God.

Speaking of stale churches, I love the breakdown revelation gives in the letter to the churches. The letter to the church of Laodicea is thought provoking.
