I'm learning Japanese right now and so far it has me listening to songs I never thought I'd listen to so I found some GOOD shyt so far
I don't know what they're saying but it sound good. Sooner or later I'll understand it. I been listening to these songs pretty much 24/7.

How about The Boredoms? Noise/punkish stuff from japan.

I saw them open Lollapalooza 93.

The singer is a guy who was called Yamatzuka Eye, but he's changed his name to something that sounds basically like that. He got connected with the noise/knitting factory avant garde stuff. I'm not familiar with what he's done after the early 90s.

But, he's japanese.

Then, of course, the American band Summercamp seems to be big in japan. This song was on the BASEketball movie soundtrack ... but, all their live stuff seems to be from Japan ...

there's also Les Rallizes Dénudés who were also pretty noisy; their bassist was involved in the hijacking of a plane by a Japanese communist militant group, pretty cool stuff

But, I think that's what they were going for. so good for those bands I guess.
