Anybody here under the age of 40 with no social media? Why?

Deleted my Facebook the other day and thinking about the same with IG eventually (most def before I’m 35).


What are some of the reasons you don’t have it?


My reason for Facebook being gone
- negative
- immature
- distraction
- lots of anti black male rhetoric that I don’t see in real life

I'm 42 and I had Facebook for a total of about 6 months back in 2011.
I could tell from the start that shyt was foul. I could only liken my Facebook experience to smoking a cigarette. After I'd post something, yeah there'd kinda be this buzz, but then there was this lingering... sense of filth about it.
I didn't like that it fed into the parts of me that are drawn to narcissism.
So I deleted that shyt and never tried another social media again outside of this and I guess Reddit.
10 years later, I think dodging the social media wave was a wise decision.

I deleted all mine in 2018. It’s a waste of time and I see all the popular memes and viral moments On this website anyway.

I did recently get Twitter but I don’t follow anyone in real life I just mainly use it as a news aggregator.

Ehh sort of. I just turned 30 last month for the record.

Never posted a story on SC and rarely use SC in general. Only have Instagram and Twitter to keep track of sneakers and enter raffles. No personal use or any family answers friends on it.

I enjoy the privacy and the peaceful life and not having every moment of my life open for criticism and public consumption. I miss out on a lot of happenings with family and friends, but they know my number if they want to tell me

I don't have any personal Facebook/Instagram/Twitter because I'm a pretty private person even though I - and perhaps because of? - the fact that I work in a very public media industry. I always have been low-key like that and have admired other people in the media industry especially someone like Sade who has always been been low-key. It's just my personality.

I only have IG but rarely get on it. Social media has become way too political for me; everybody is “all-knowing” about everything and it’s just annoying. I remember getting on FB back in the day and my friends and me roasting each other on our statuses. Miss those days.
