Spontaneous Mishaps and Hijinks
I moved to this country in 1994, and settled in West Oak Lane, Philadelphia. Back then this was a working class community. One neighborhood over was Mt. Airy. They were the white color neighborhood. My math teacher lived there. He lived 2 doors away from my aunt.
The hood is a mentality. If you don't break that mentality down, you will surely bring it with you everywhere you go.
About 2 weeks ago the city listed Mt. Airy/WOL as the most violent part of the city. The area is tragic. The truth is I ran to Pennsauken, NJ a few years ago. I didn’t want my son to be murdered as a teenager. I blamed my departure on potholes and schooling. However, it was the crime that I was worried about. Yes I survived the city. But I don’t feel my son should have to dodge bullets. While he’s the one, he’s not fukking Neo.
