Looking to work in a kitchen washing dishes. If you've done this before, how did you like it? Did you move up in the kitchen?

I did dishwashing before, but it was some "lend the kitchen a hand" type shyt. That was cool. I was a host doing some of everything.

Took a kitchen job a few months ago. Did one shift. Slightly cut my hand slicing onions, washed hundreds of dishes solo in a nearly 400 seat restaurant.

Never went back. It was hot, you get burned a lot, and usually you are in a kitchen with folks who dont speak english. I was cool with all of that:ehh:

What I wasn't cool with? Smelling like pasta and not being able to get rid of the scent for almost 2 months. I sleep with my hands near my face. I was smelling

shrimp, mushroom, and marinara no matter what I did.:punksaysgo:

Lool why?
The company was so unorganized it pissed me off...they just threw me on the line w/o any proper training

The guy that was supposed to train me didn't show me how to operate the machine the right way and it was so many dishes piling up. The dishes just kept coming nonstop :damn: I just said fukk it and dipped :dead:

Matter fact another dude walked out like 20 minutes before me :dead: shyt was krazy

for like 2 months, they didn't want me to come in until late afternoon (to save money I guess) and the dishes were stacked to the cieling:martin:
I wouldn't think this is a hard job to land, most places have like one real good dish washer and a revolving door of other people working and quitting with a month or two

Lmao, you were over there smelling like sea food linguine. But that's your MO though, right? Working in kitchens? 400 people is quite a lot of people tbh

Well iont have any kitchen experience and that's the thing. People seem to be reluctant to train people, which I don't know why

depending on the hourly pay, its terrible if its a busy restaurant :to:
dont settle for that job.
only take it if you're in dire needs and cant get another job.
some kitchens will promote you from the dishpit to the kitchen line. ask them if they do that before you take that job
