They use that time period because it's the easiest way to explain why you aren't just driving a car everywhere like in FF15

They want you to walk around and run into stuff so you either get medieval or post-apocalyptic world's in exploration games.

If things were set in modern time it'd get stale WAY faster, GTA and Cyberpunk covered damn near everything already + your superhero games like Spider-Man or if they bring the Infamous series back.

All of this stuff goes in cycles anyways idk how y'all just forget that and end up in the same loops of complaining

It is so bad that even Doom video game jumped on that medieval lane.

People are waiting for new GTA soo bad. Cause usually GTA sets trends with other companies trying to copy their formula again and again.

Kingdom Come seem like a cool game. But I just can’t get into it. Deleted it last night

Had my fill of eurocentricity since high school :manny:

GRRM only "innovated" with GoT insofar as he took the mask off, and let the world relearn all the ugliness that was involved. The world builders that can tell stories away from the usual will get noticed first.

this is true.

like rebirth, why are we walking around this barren open world when there are major highways, trains, cars, and aircrafts?

It depends. I like period Japanese games but cannot stand anything pre 20th century in games.

The souls like, stamina bar games need to chill too.

It’s popular because it’s an easy pass to exclude non white people. Same thing with all the sci-fi shyt. Magically only white people. managed to survive into the future. Artistic vision or what not.

Especially fantasy settings. No matter what they say I'll always think it's straight up :mjpls: when I only see cacs. Made up worlds with dwarves, elves, orcs and all kinds of anthropomorphic races but somehow can't fit in brehs?

i noticed that. most games with unique settings and art direction tend to last longer over generations.

man i even tried to play cyberpunk after san andreas, and its just wayy too much going on in that game.
