I think the main problem with these commercial rappers is they are trying hard to be "Legends" and not being themselves. They see how classic the 90s and early 2000s were, and think they have to spend their whole career living up to it, instead of being themselves. When the 90s rappers first came on the scene, obviously they were competitive, but their main objective was "Imma do me". Now these rappers are like "Imma do like Nas, Tupac, or Jay-Z". Just like J Cole said how legends gotta make room for the new rappers. No nikka, YOU gotta burst on the scene, be original, and take Hip Hop by storm

Everything these new rappers do is so robotic. "Yeah...yeah.. imma say I'm the greatest since Biggie and Pac :ohhh:"
"Imma sample Outkast and Bob Marley so nikkas would see I'm a legend by association :ohhh:"
"Yeahh... yeah... imma say, imma murder these nikkas on tracks, and make sure they got no new fans :ohhh:"

"Yeahh, that'll make me a legend :obama:"

Everything's so robotic now..
The early /00s was not a classic era.

im getting tired of these lames saying the early 2000s was on the same level as the 90s. nah its not its just the time period you grew up on and think everything released in the early 2000s as classics when in reality,,,, early 2000s was just as bland as now.

The early 2000's weren't that bad breh...
Lets list the universally accepted classic rap albums of the early 2000s. Lets say 2000-2004
I'll set it off

last mainstream successful single that represented the struggle was Ghetto by Akon (and that's not even rap music)

i don't even remember before that, you'd probably have to go to DMX or something.

I blame the record executives for losing control of their business
the game needs a producer with a great mind and vision to guide the artist to places they haven't been

Why hasn't puff daddy discovered another star like biggie after 20 years
because he wanted to be a star himself and said fukk other people's talent

You got Kanye, who doesn't even write or producer his music heralded as a true artist
which would be all good if he was a great performer, but despite what he thinks he is not Michael Jackson
