Californ-i-a by way of BK
From what I understand Hogan, Nash, and Hall all had guaranteed contracts and complete control.
Only Hogan had complete control
Hall didn't have anything, Bischoff sent him home and almost fired him numerous times
Nash had some control but really didn't until he took over as booker.

But they definitely had a lot of influence, that is true

1) Age isn't really relevant. If fans are still buying tickets and merchandise, PPVs and going to house shows

2) Actually it was smart for business, cause they drew money. They only stopped drawing money because their angles were terrible and booking got dumb, and WWE was putting on a better product. Not cause Hogan, Sting, Nash, Goldberg, Flair, Hart were on top. Aside from Jericho, the guys fans were begging WCW to push (Guerrero, Benoit, Malenko, Saturn) wouldn't have stood a chance against The Rock, Austin's, Foley, Vince Mcmahon, Undertaker, DX, etc...they didn't have the charisma, the promos skills, etc to stand up to the Attitude era guys.. (Eddy developed those skills in WWE, he was great in WCW, don't get me wrong. But as a upper mid carder. Not a maineventer)

3) I do agree with your last two points though

I was under the impression that merch sales and ticket sales went down with their ratings but I could be wrong. Yeah the booking was crap but I also kinda felt like there was only so much you could do with Hogan, Sting Flair and dudes like that post NWO against what WWF had so it was kind of a handicap. I feel like if you handed me the WCW booking responsibilities I'm still getting smashed eventually when my real workers left for up North and I have one real new star who jobbed to Nash/randomly turned heel.
