Every time I drive on the i395 heading to downtown Miami. Walking under 13th and 14th in overtown, under the i395. I feel uneasy because of the history, knowing that I'm driving over what was once established black neighborhoods in overtown, established businesses and whatnot. Knowing the history of what was done to overtown makes me uneasy

As it should. All the greatest black performers would perform there and many of them would lodge there.

I feel comfortable in most hoods in Compton, Long Beach, Inglewood...but when I'm in south central in the 60s, 83s, hoovers I always feel paranoid like I gotta keep my head on a swivel...mistaken identity killings happen a lot in south central rarely happens in Compton...

Same here, like if I went into a starbucks and its only white people, I feel it's a fukkin spotlight aiming at my head, I don't know if its just me being self-conscious or if white people really out here worrying about a black man and his coffee
