Anyone else look up people’s addresses to see how much they paid for their homes, and how much they pay in taxes?

My city tax site used to allow you to search by name, didn't even have to know the address
You could look up coworkers, friends/family of people you knew etc. They changed it to address based search now probably due to privacy concerns
I remember this girl I was talking to was stalling me out on meeting up calling it "stranger danger" for me to come to her crib. Whole time I already had her address, tax information etc

Every time I meet someone, or go to an event at someone’s house, I always lookup their address, and see how much they paid, and what their taxes are. If they rent, I want to see all the options in the building, and how much each unit is to rent. When I was single, this was the first thing I did when she gave me her address.



I’m just nosey.


If I have a birthdate, I’m looking up court cases too.

My wife does this (without the court cases) to see how the housing markets in areas are.

Everyone should if they own multiple homes and are serious about their property and assets.

When I was living in LA, and would go to events at people’s houses, I would always look on Zillow or Redfin to see the value of the property.

I do this with my neighbors with similar houses because I want to see if I'm paying too mch property taxes. There's a process where you can grieve your taxes and you can use similar houses as reasons why yours shouldn't be valued as much.
