There is a reason that games from the past aren't around anymore. Need proof? Halo 5 isn't setting the world on fire and neither is God of War. Those are 2 franchises who are still holding on to what made them great back in the 6th gen. The only company who keeps improving with old franchises is Nintendo.
This is more than just graphics. Gameplay techniques are constantly worked on to get better over time. Mario has unofficially been Nintendo's tech demo to show off what they believe can be a new standard. Play Mario 64 now and try to tell me that it controls better than the galaxy games
The best argument to me is the fallout franchise. There were some pretty hardcore fallout fans who refused to accept Bethesda's vision for the franchise, but the reality is that part 3, NV and part 4 are much better hands than the ones in the past. They are different kinds of games, but fallout in an isometric view is not better than third or first person view....history has proved it.
Don't care for Fallout? The same could be said for Street Fighter 4 when compared to the older titles. Capcom tried 3D for a while and it failed, but fundamentally the new games take a big dump on the older titles when it comes to balance.
Ask yourself why sonic doesn't work in 2015 like it did in 1990...the industry evolved out of it. Same could be said for final Fight / streets of rage as well. There is a reason those games stay in the past...it's usually for good reason. I recently upped an old thread about freedom fighters which came out in the 6th gen, but in order for the franchise to come back it will need major work on the controls for it to do well.
