I sort of see what you're saying. Luckily for me, I haven't listened to enough of it to be sick of it. I definitely see the reggaeton comparaison.

In nigeria though? Who wants to live in that 3rd world country

Id rather live in my million dollar house than live in squalor like where u come from. Most nigerians are poor and im sure youre no exception

Then go back?

Not a big fan.

I prefer congolese music, RnB and zouk.
When congolese music ruled Africa :blessed:
I don't know why but those songs were always more danceable to me. Awilo linking with Jocelyn is like Burna making hit with Tony Braxton on the hook.(no sampling). Congolese artists walked so that the rest of Africa could run. But at the same time, Fela and Femi, Lagbaja etc were not that well known at the time, and now their influences are new to most Africans, just as the original trap sound was regional then and now rules hip hop.

Eyyy... I'm tired of this bullshyt right about now. :mjlol:
Took me long enough. It doesn't have the rawness of old school afro music(fela, lagbaja), the groove you can get in like congolese music, nor the good raw delivery that dancehall/hip hop used to have. fukk was I thinking championing this fukkery. Back to old school dancehall, hip hop and rhumba for me. I feel:flabbynsick: and I'm only 24.

Depends on the artists you guys are listening to, you guys are basing this on mainstream artists like davido and wizkid. If you want raw afro Artist go listen to nsg or pa salieu

I actually love those alte artists and what pa salieu does with his fusion. It's just the overall imagery of afrobeats that i don't love along with the repetitiveness in the mainstream. Burna boy is also falling into this, and he was my favorite artists from 2012-2018. Afrobeats now sounds like pop music made for export for the western market, and not in a good way.

SOHH Class of 2006
I'm Nigerian and I Think it is hilarious how now every other Nigerian is trying to be an Afrobeats superstar.

Step 1. Come up with a very Afrobeats name like Shaqima, Tesayo, Zamza, or Owale
Step 2. Download Fruity Loops
Step 3. Make a song and dance for TikTok
Step 4. Become rich and famous.

:blessed:
