I was a dumb ass knucklehead when this happened and couldn't have gave anymore of a fukk when my mom told me about it the day it happened

When I got older I really started learning about it and watching all the documentaries on it

It really changed America and I don't think NY ever really recovered

The Tulsa riots where 3000 blacks were murdered, Rosewood were blacks were hunted by whites are worthy of the same type remembrance...., so is Pearl Harbor but I wonder why we holding onto 9/11

You're really wondering why we hold onto 9/11 more than the other events? It was only 14 years ago, contrary to what you said that is not a long time by any means. It's still fresh in every adult's mind and was a complete turning point of life in America. Our country has never been the same since and never will be. The quality of life has been on a steady decline since that time period, and while we may have already been on that path, this event will always be remembered as the catalyst for that.

As for the other events, Pearl Harbor was in 1941 and is still remembered by everyone that lived through it, and has been and will be taught to every man, woman, and child that's been born since then. The Tulsa riots were in 1921 and Rosewood was 1923. I completely agree they should get much more exposure than they do, but they come from an even more shameful racist era of American history, and subsequently and sadly were largely ignored or glossed over at the time, plus they weren't attacks from foreign nations. Also not downplaying any of it, but from Wikipedia, "The official count of the dead by the Oklahoma Department of Vital Statistics was 39, but other estimates of black fatalities vary from 55 to about 300", concerning the Tulsa riots; and for the Rosewood massacre, "An official report claims six blacks killed along with two whites. Other accounts suggest a larger total", and "In 1994...the Florida Legislature passed the Rosewood Bill which entitled the nine survivors to $150,000 dollars each in compensation". I know $150,000 doesn't even compare to the lives lost and the overall horrific nature of the racism and hatred on display in these crimes, but at least there was some kind of silver lining there. Again still horrible disgusting events, but neither is comparable to 9/11 in scale.

The jumpers :wow:
I always get a chill when I see this picture. Like how desperate of a situation do you have to be in for you to feel like that is the best option.
The same with this picture, its even sadder knowing that she died a few weeks ago. She had throat cancer from inhaling all that dust.

I do feel where people are coming from, but the whole never forget 9/11 hysteria lessens each year. Remember those first few years after? The entire month of September was a big "REMEMBER 9/11" fest. These days, no one really thinks about it except for on the date when they show documentaries about it all day.
