Anyone Ever Been the Token?

I've been the token twice.
Currently, I'm the only black person in my office. Everyone else is either white (the office workers) or hispanic (production). The only bad part is that if we ever do office parties, I can't turn it up like if it was a bunch of brothas n sistas. I hardly ever get the vibe tho, so it's

The other time was when I had to do an art class for one of my college electives. Picture this, in a class of seven, I was
-the only black
-the only male
-the only non-art major
in my class, so to say I was outnumbered was an understatement

how were the pawgs in that class? did they show any intrigue for the, u know, bbc? :

My fiancee is middle eastern and so anytime we do not go somewhere with her friends she is the token indian girl...

She's not Indian or from India

Being with here makes me realize people are even loss worldly than I thought

Most of my life. I remember in Elementary School when the class would turn around and look at me when the teacher was talking about someone black in American history

Currently now @ my job but my co-workers are pretty chill about it

Yeah basically my whole life. No other black people for the most part til Middle school and then there were a few here and there. High school, I was the only black guy in the "college prep" classes. Never had a problem for the most part. Work, I'm the only black in my area, there are a few other blacks through out the whole place, not many though.

Im the token in my department at work...living in Toronto its usually more multicultural, but here its not. Its weird, I feel like im representing for my race or some sh!t...everyone here is white. mainly italian. and everyone even my boss curses regularly, and I swear so much in real life, but I try to keep a clean image at work, so I never curse.. So often times when they swear around me there like "sorry" in my head im like because I swear probably more then all of them combined, but by being the only black man here, I feel like I gotta be better then them or else they will look at me like all the rest. Im also covered in tattoos, but I only wear long sleeves..even in the summer

they have no clue who I really am

i was a token when my fam moved to the suburbs in small town in tn. i hated every second of that shyt, which is funny because i lived in germany and i didn't even notice it that much. it wasn't until i hit stateside and lived around my grandparents and cousins then moving to all white neighborhood that i became aware that i didn't like living around white americans.

freshman year of college at a PWI, including myself there were only 3 Black males out of about 150 in my dorm, and them other 2 nikkas were corny. Roaming campus for food or getting into shyt at night(parties/bars) I mostly rolled with a white bol crew. Sophomore year that changed when NY enacted some shyt that let grant money flow into commuters and alot more minorities started living on campus.
