in the US, you have to be a full time employee and laid off to get unemployment, iirc.

And tho its better than nothing, its not a really bad position to be in.

u dont have to be full time they average shyt out depending on quarters and shyt its not just full time

400 a week? shyt thats not bad

so is it just laid off to qualify, not fired?

Only laid off people can qualify. However, if you are fired you can appeal the decision once your employer denies your claim and if you have a good case on why you were fired, you can receive it.

Years ago, when the Recession hit, I was un the Yacht indutry, labor shyt, but good money....the crash brought that industry to their knees, and pretty soon, say November/December, we were brought in and told there was no work for awhile. But, we got full benefits and 'workshare' which was all done through the company, we just signed papers, and the checks were supposed to come. Like 40%, even less then unemployment, but you could still work some hours...some shyt like that

I had money saved, and was ok, but all my coworkers had families and kids, and when those checks didn't come, week after week, as it got closer to Christmas, my heart went out to them....I had my own thing on the side, so i was straight as it gained more traction, and three months into 2009, I got like 10 checks, like 2,000, the backlogged unemployment...I collected some, and I didn't even need it, after awhile I quit all the jobs, I'd rather not get those checks...going into the bank with them was awful. I wanted to launch into explanations and start pulling out rolls of cash, 'You see the thing is...'
