Any of y'all ever just move out of a city pretty much spontaneously, leaving behind everything (friends, family, jobs, whatever)? Just moving to a new city and "starting over" in a way? Even living off of the grid?

I'm thinking about doing that shyt this weekend. I'm just gonna dip out. I only got about $850, and I've already quit my job anyway, but I figure I really got nothing to lose. I'm not even sure where I'm moving to but I do know I'm sick of being where I currently live, sick of the people I know, sick of my family, sick of seeing the same fukking places, whatever... So before I hit a real depression I figure I'll just dip.

Not like how you're describing..
I took a drive to North Carolina towards the end of the summer I graduated high school to visit my cousins, I ended up living there for a year :leon: They hooked me up with a job and I built from there.
I got kinda homesick at times but to be honest that was the happiest I've ever been in life.

Yup. Twice. My nikka busted me out one time. We were at a bar and some broad I worked with was there and she asked what are you guys up to? And he said "We are having a little going away party". She went :krs: and yea...it didn't pan out too well.

I used to think about it all the time, I was on the verge of staying in Salvador (Brazil) a few years ago.

Sounds like you need to travel breh.

Pretty much.

I've been different places (in the U.S.) but it was always with some sort of support system (either a parent lived there already or grandparent or whatever). I've never really ventured out on my own though I've wanted to.

I'm just shook, I guess. I assume once I do it the first time it'll just open the floodgates for more travel though, hopefully.

Yeah fam, definitely travel or move, cause you sound like me a few years back. I almost stayed in Brazil, had to have long convos with family to convince me to come back home.

It depends on where you go too, my nikka has been in Indonesia for the last 4 years, I don't think dude is ever coming back outside of family visits every year. That slower paced life is addictive, and traveling is the only thing I can say I'm truly addicted to in life.

If you gonna travel, just make friends with people in places before you go, find some facebook groups and start talking to people in the country before you go.

Dont do it $850 you will have no cash by next month this time..if it was $8500you would at least be able to survive for a few months..you cant even pay first and last month rent with that, hotel would eat that up in a few weeks..unless you plan on living in a shelter, things cant be that bad.

Where do you live? Like Malta said you probably need to travel...definitely need to go check out other places. Something drastically different would be ideal IMO. That culture shock will hit you immediately, but I think its something most young guys should experience. You sound like how I felt when I was 19 then I started just going places on my own. Looking back it was probably dangerous as fukk as I never had much money in my pocket and most of my family lives in nyc, but the experience I gained was more than worth it.

ny and jersey/pa - all huge metropolitan areas.

Outside the states in the Caribbean of course

Small ass town in Florida (then to other places in central FL)...check the population of a place I was at for a while...
Interlachen, Florida - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lexington, KY (now)

All different environments, but I took a bit from each place and now I am more comfortable in what I know I am looking for. I don't think I can do nyc anymore tbh...everytime I go visit I want to leave after a couple of days. If I DO move back to ny it will probably be Long Island so that I can hit Manhattan fairly quickly if there is anything to do. $850 is not enough, I would say a good number to start thinking about dipping is $2,500.

hahahaha why the hell would you ever go there? I drove through there in like 2005 I think, there was like 1 intersection with like a mcdonalds & some no name chicken place and a church with a giant trampoline, that was the town.

If you dont mind me asking were your trips to Brazil initially business related or just personal ventures?

I've disappeared by just not answering my phone or Facebook. I didn't have to leave the city but I felt I got a break from all the shut I was tired of. I decided I'm gonna do thus at least twice a year, it's good peace of mind, and it stops me from spazzing out and cussin a muhfukka out.
