Any of y'all ever just move out of a city pretty much spontaneously, leaving behind everything (friends, family, jobs, whatever)? Just moving to a new city and "starting over" in a way? Even living off of the grid?

I'm thinking about doing that shyt this weekend. I'm just gonna dip out. I only got about $850, and I've already quit my job anyway, but I figure I really got nothing to lose. I'm not even sure where I'm moving to but I do know I'm sick of being where I currently live, sick of the people I know, sick of my family, sick of seeing the same fukking places, whatever... So before I hit a real depression I figure I'll just dip.

[end rant]

you can move to middle america some where. You should really get a car though.

Done it more than once. Wouldn't call it "disappearing" or even "escaping" but I think it's healthy to reinvent and change perspective from time to time unless you have kids or some shyt and it's going to hurt them. Living all over the country has expanded my horizons, and sometimes you got to leave people behind, because people are fukking tired after awhile - so many millions of people from place to place, most are replaceable. And your close friends stay your close friends no matter what, it's even better seeing them when you're apart from them for a while and there's personal growth, know what I'm saying?

But have some semblance of a plan, or else picking up and moving can be too reckless to be worth it.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
If you dont mind me asking were your trips to Brazil initially business related or just personal ventures?

Just personal, been out there a few times, I was out there for a few months when I was contemplating not coming back.

I was thinking of just being a personal trainer down there and working like 15-20 hours a week.

moving isnt going to make you feel less depressed. may i suggest therapy and medication instead?

:childplease:

I don't think "depressed" is the word I should be using. I'm just sick of being in the same surroundings, around the same people, doing the same monotonous shyt, bored or burnt out are probably the right terms for me to use.

I got the whip, and I've always been a hoarder when it comes to food... I've probably got enough food stored in my cabinets to last me four or five months if it had to. I just don't have the cash to go anywhere on any type of longterm situation; the only way it'd work is if I pretty much got a job immediately that paid tips.

Brother, that's my end game. I'm getting closer, just need this plan to pop in its final stage. Hopefully I'm in either Stockholm, D.R., or Brazil within 3 years.

Don't sleep on Colombia the Cartagena / Santa Marta / Barranquilla trifecta is tough, all 3 cities are different and within a few hours of each other.

I'm like you, just trying to get out of this sinking ship that is the US before it's too late.

Yeah, I took note of those locales when you mentioned them on the other site. If it comes down to it and I haven't executed my plan quickly enough, I will resort to cashing in on my status as an educated, attractive, tall black man and get me a naive foreign wife on short notice. :birdman:

hahahaha why the hell would you ever go there? I drove through there in like 2005 I think, there was like 1 intersection with like a mcdonalds & some no name chicken place and a church with a giant trampoline, that was the town.
My gf moved down there with her mom...she asked me to go down there and check it out. I was like why not? :manny:

The first couple of weeks were ROUGH. I think the closest Walmart was in Palatka and closed at 10pm!

:snoop: @ the description. Do you remember the gas station near the McDonald's? That was the "hangout" spot.

yes I remember that gas station, I was joking that we should unnecessarily take out and fiddle with our cell phones to wow the locals with our martian-like technology.

I went there with two people on a college visit road trip (JU & UNF), but it was a holiday weekend and both campuses were shut down so we left to head home early. So on the way back, (you probably know where Winter Springs is too?) one of them said "hey lets stop in the town I grew up in & pick up some dinner at this chicken place my family used to go to".

We even drove past his ex's house, it was all dirt roads no traffic lights or anything. I remember thinking "how the hell would you MapQuest an address here? Take left turn at giant tree, 'it'll be on the left'".

Was only there maybe an hour and a half, but I'll never forget it
