Yea that sounds about right. What country are you eyeing? if it's japan or HK do the most expensive one. Japan is one of the few places that is very strict with their requirements. Where's third world countries will take the basic, they don't give a fukk lol.

I did the celta in 2012 which was pretty straightforward for the most part. I was very interested in going abroad but fell into something else while I was applying for jobs and decided to put the teaching plans on hold. I'm glad I have the qualification tbh, just having the option is a great thing.

I heard the only cert worth getting is CELTA. Im going to get thAt one after my associates and go for Indonesia. But I really wanted to know about discrimination, im born American, which they want butim black and my dad is arab so i have a full Arabic name. If this deters US employers, i can omly omagine the thoughts of Asians looking for a typical western English teacher. Its something i really want to dp, but its high risk.

I got a tefl cert everyone from my class was placed in different countries young and old surprisingly.
I highly recommend it if it's an option for you.

I went to the actual classes, which was cool because I was able to talk to the teacher who had taught abroad and likeminded other students. Was able to rail one of them as well.

I ended up not going abroad to teach but most of the people did, some were even older adults 40+ and the people were from mixed backgrounds and races. That said it's something I have and if I ever feel like it I can.


Also I can't remember the thread it was in but someone said they were teaching English online? If you could drop some info or how you're doing it I wanted to check it out.
