Anyone ever thought about writing a book?

About your life or an event you were part of?

Basically I'm thinking of starting a diary type book, probably take about 20 years to get the right amount of stories, but I'm not thinking of doing it for the money, it'll be more like therapy for me.

I have no knowledge on the subject apart from reading quite alot of true account style books, just wondered if any knew any decent books to read for pointers and start up tips?

Only type of book like that I've ever had a look at was "on writing" by Stephen king.

If anyone has ever thought about writing, I'd be interested in anything you got to say.

Probably, but Like I said, it's more for me.

I'm a london black taxi driver and many books have been published about my line of work (I own 2), I doubt they sell well, but there are 30,000 blsck taxi drivers out here and many thousands more on "the knowledge" (taxi driving school which take 4 years on average), so there is a market for it who knows how books will be distibuted in 2030? Might be near on free to get a book out there by then?

I still wanna write about it, even if it just for my family in the end, like I said only a diary style book, keep it nice and simple.

I don't need the money, so it's not for financial gain, I doubt it will take a lot of my time up either, so it's a no brainier really.

Edit: in the last two days I have had a £300 an hour escort telling me all her business and a crazy Russian who leapt out without paying, london is crazy at night and I'm just thinking of a way to keep a record of all the characters I meet and lessons I learn.

A book has got to be a story. A story starts here, moves through>>>>>>>>>>>>, and ends here. The main character has gotta either grow or die in the process. I am assuming you will somehow grow in your story. So think about shyt like how did you come to be a cab driver? Did you have a choice or are you stuck? Is it a passion of yours? Once you figure out the hook then go back to when you were still in high school and realized you were interested in cab driving. Finally, where are trying to go from here? Frame the journey in the context of where you're headed. For instance: if you want out of the Taxi game, your stories along the way would be the ones which make the reader say "damn. I would want out" and vice versa.

Definately if you want it to reach a broader audience, if its just work stories it will only appeal to other drivers.

It's not like my idea doesn't exist already, it would just be a newer version in like 20 years time :pachaha:

Tbh, it would just be nice to have a record of my life, it's more for me than anything for financial gain, but there is also a market for this sort of thing.

I think whenever something interesting happens to me, I'll record it with my phone, then put it into words later on, I haven't taken an English class in 18 years though, so I'll have to look up some books to get my writing style better.
