Talk to your family. Look up local churches and libraries where they come from because they often have a lot of census info. I got a copy of my great grandmoms birth certificate from the vitals office and worked from there on.

THE TRIAL IS 30 DAYS. IT MIGHT TAKE YOU A FEW HOURS TO YEARS DEPENDING ON HOW FAR BACK AND HOW GOOD THE RECORDS ARE FOR THE CITY, COUNTIES, AND STATES YOU'RE DEALING WITH.

Start with your Grandparents on both sides if your family (maternal and paternal) and work your way down.
In addition:
check the state archives where your ancestors were enslaved

Ancestry.com gives you like a month for free.
I was able to dig up mad shyt during that month to the point where I was satisfied with what I found and didn’t need to go any further with it.
Both parents from third world countries or Caribbean islands that haven't been around long enough and both did a shytty job of keeping records

That's the issue I'm going through right now, my mother doesn't even know of her great-grandparents or even their names, but I'll find a way somehow.

I did it and compared to the men in my family, I'm such a damned loser. They accomplished alot, especially for the time period.
They did that so you wouldn't have to go thru that

Yeah, I have an aunt that was and is still doing it on my dad's side. She presented it at a family reunion a while back. I'm exposed to the information but honestly it hurts some to glean over it. My mom's side information isn't as concise and more loose along the lines of memory but if she was talking about creating a detailed list.

I did trace maternal line back to cac master and his will. The father side I don’t have that much history on.
