I've been on my lowkey calm peaceful vibe, black history month coming up, I'm looking for jobs so that I can pursue my dreams, and I'm keeping a positive attitude.

Now, I'm ready to take this shyt to the next level.

On Monday and Wednesday PSU (Portland state university) is offering free tai chi sessions so I'm definitely down for that shyt. Peace without having to give a nikka a piece :noah:

Anyone else fukk with this kinda stuff?

@observe you seem kinda of peaceful so I wouldn't be surprised.

@charmander I want you to do it so your energy can make your hair rise like a super saiyan ;)

I do. Or for the past half a year now. That and shaolin kung fu. The shifu that leads the school I'm in was actually orphaned at the shaolin temple. I have to say I never thought I'd be chilling and getting instructions from a 31st generation shaolin master. It's cool because he lives in the states so he usually drops by once a month and leads class. Honestly i got into it out of interest in wing chun. I went to that school hoping they could point me in the right direction. Actually one of the older students knows wing chun but I haven't approached him about it, there's already a lot on my plate I'm dealing with. Plus I had never done any kung fu before in my life and tai chi takes a while to really get down. I'd say to really get a handle on the stuff, start reading first. There's a certain attitude you should come with if you want to make the best out of it. Even before I started looking for instruction on the physical aspects I read a lot of older Chinese books like the Dao de jing and some materials by Confucius for like half a year and focused on just being healthy.

Can you point me in the right direction on some stuff to read fam?

This is what I was talking about in my OP: http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2014/01/free_tai_chi_classes_downtown.html

I feel like twice a week for an hour is sufficient and I wanna take things step by step, but I'm down to hear you drop knowledge at any time.

I'm just a student, so as long as I learn I'm happy.

It cant prepare you for demons like Brazillian JIujitsu but it can help you find some inner peace and calm.

Thanks friend, but I have a thing called a brain and that's all I need for these "demons" that you speak of. This tai chi is for the soul :pachaha:

Alot of things are for the soul but if Tai Chi works for you have fun with that. Brazillian JIujitsu is for protection, self respect and fitness which are also good for the soul, friend.

I read the Dao De jing and analects of Confucius, some books on wing chun that were written under the guidance of Ip Chun, who's Ip Man's son (Ip Man was Bruce Lee's wing chun instructor). That and just googling as much information that I could everyday. I'd read kuen kuit which means fist poems or little sentences that contain some principle based in wing chun philosophy. I also got high a lot and zoned out on it, hardcore. Since I'm a musician, most of my schedule is determined by me and here in NOLA, things slow down around July and August, so for two months I made it a point to read information on it daily. I changed my diet drastically. I'm actually not sure how much I lost but I calculated my acceptable weight based on my age and height and ate pretty much vegetables with rice and the occasional meat mixed in or a salad from April (it was before then but around April was when I started taking notes on what I as doing) until about now. I've slacked off because of the holidays but I timed it right because I hit my ideal weight 170 around October. But, whenever I do cook or ate at home, which is almost everyday, I still pretty much eat the same way.
