Barely. I don't take medication or do therapy so shyt hits me hard to the point I don't even wan't to leave the house most days.

Sort of. And she uses a lot of patience trying to deal with me. It's probably gonna run her off soon.

hey man, i know the struggle. there's nothing to do but deal with it. hopefully medical science cracks this and you can just ingest a pill or get an operation or something and it's gone, but until then just learn to persevere and appreciate life the few moments when the anxiety isn't so bad.

listen to music as much as you can too. i don't know about you but for me music is a magic bullet. i just put some jamz on and for a few seconds i can forget that i'm swaying on the edge of a cliff.

What kind of medication do you take? Also have you ever done therapy?

taking an MAOI right now. it helps. but it causes drowsiness and if you are already sleep deprived to begin with you will feel like a zombie.

took CBT for a while (~ 2014). it helped but only to a point.

i've just had to accept that there's something awry with my brain, as far as how it processes fear. it is what it is.

i hate ppl who believe you can just "wish" away the panic attacks and constant tension / worry with CBT, like nikka if it was that easy you think i'd be talking to you right now? :stopitslime:

I cannot be in large crowds - for the most part many people don't like large crowds
If I leave my house I want to know the exact route to avoid traffic and/or accidents - yes because everyone else LOVES traffic
If we make plans I "might" cancel - everyone/anyone "might" cancel
If we're engaged in a conversation and I appear uninterested and rude, neither is the case - ok...
I don't sleep well...times I want to sleep forever, times I can't - that's everyone
loud noises bother me - they bother most people
I like space - so do most people
I have a busy mind and I get restless - so does everyone
I don't like when my routine is changed - neither do most people (adults) who have set routines

I have anxiety issues but very few of these apply to me. Just because some expert has come up with a label that doesn't apply to all cases and a few people abuse the label for their own ends or are just whining doesn't mean there aren't scores of people out there suffering quietly. Try to educate yourself more on the subject and have some empathy.

Maybe my post came off the wrong way to you (and I apologize)

I am not saying that no one has anxiety...plenty of people have anxiety and I completely understand that and have empathy for people who deal with circumstances beyond their control that cause them an immense amount of undue stress...

however, the examples IN THE ARTICLE are not specific enough for me to feel empathy for the writer of the article.

Someone who likes space, and dislikes loud noises and traffic... whether you have anxiety or not, these are not "specific" to people who have clinical disorders or diagnoses.

I also said in my first post that I really dislike people just saying "my OCD" when there are actually people who suffer from this order. Not everyone has OCD, not everyone has "anxiety" and those who do actually suffer from these things shouldn't be patronized by other people who want to "butt in" for sympathy.

That's fair. My bad bro. After reading through this post, it's clear you are coming from an angle of a person who has more than a cursory understanding of these illnesses.

I agree with the bolded. I don't want to trivialize the writer's plight but the examples given are too vague for diagnostic purposes.

Already within this thread, there's ppl who've admitted to be dealing with some anxiety issue of some kind but they don't manifest the same way.

I have a busy mind and I get restless.
I’m a writer, notoriously known for working on several projects at once while simultaneously having a laundry list in the queue. I often run long distances — not only for the exercise, but to tame the agitation of either being too busy or not being busy enough. Striking balance is difficult for people like me because we tend to teeter on feeling overwhelmed. And yet, if I didn’t feel overwhelmed, that would stress me out.

If I leave my house, I want to know the exact route to avoid traffic and/or accidents.
I also want to know approximately how long I’ll be gone because time is the most valuable commodity and wasting minutes terrifies me. It may come across as me being a detailed planner (and I am), but really, I’m trying to avoid tie-ups to reduce the anxiety.

THIS DESCRIBES ME PERFECTLY.... I'M ON BUSPAR FOR MY NERVES
