Anyone had a “paper route” or know someone who had one, or was this just a tv and movie thing?

I had one back in the day I used to deliver the "Progress Bulletin" when I was in Jr. High . One thing you learned delivering the paper was that the Sunday advertising and comics would be dropped off to the paperboys on Thursdays. I got to read the comics and know what was going to be on sale before everyone else (we were too broke to buy anything though ). I remember folding my papers up and watching Pee-Wee's Playhouse and Muppet Babies.

My quads were were rock hard when I was riding around my neighborhood

Lucky. I used to hate folding those big ass Sunday papers.

I think paper routes are one of those things that just became less and less common after the 90s.

I didn’t deliver the paper but I had a summer job loading the delivery trucks for the newspapers.

My brother had one. The couple of times i went with him is one of the reasons i hate dogs.

nah but i raked leaves..it was 2 houses on my street that had trees.. so i would rotate the bags.. at night i burst the bags of i leaves i raked ... on their lawn....

did that for 3 autumns.. til they caught on ...lol

so i had to cut grass...in the summer ...

then i collected gigalo fees and sold cigaretts for my uncles and cousins..sold crack ...sherm.. drank.. coke.. the usual

went on a hoe caper with my cousin once..thats how i learn the handyman hustle.. p*ssy meal and payment...u guaranteed it ...by doin the simplest ass shyt ...

I never did. I had friends that did tho. Half the paper would arrive one day and then the rest of the Sunday paper like late sat night. I helped fold them together.

We were the only teenagers doing it. Everyone else were adults.

Then I got my own route and when he quit I took over his routes. It was cool.

I tried it once when I was in high school. There was a Brooklyn warehouse near my house that offered paper route jobs. Tried it for 2 weeks, and quit
fukk waking up at 2:30 am driving to 100+ houses half asleep

I did the penny saver for a while when I was kid and that shyt was hard as fukk. It was at least hundred of them I think and no way that could work on a bike. I used a shopping cart for a while but that was hard. A few times my brother in law helped me. I ended up quitting because it was just too much to do without a car.
