Or even apple tv? I don't have hd available at my apartment community and would like to look into purchasing this thing. Is it worth it? Would i have to pay extra for the additional channels content like hbogo and others?

Yes, I've had it since November and if you go hard with downloading TV shows/movies, you will really enjoy the Roku. I have the Roku 3 and its fukkin official. Even tho the Amazon Fire looks loaded, I know it will be "closed" off like Apple TV is. If you use a media manager like Plex with your Roku, your stuff will be organized. It can connect to your hard drive/thumb drive and play/stream media from there and its easy to use once you get thru the initial set up and network related stuff. There's a bunch of channels, pr0n, and even "unofficial" channels that people will create and you have to find the codes or get invites to these channels.

I'm satisfied with it even tho you obviously cant watch live TV on it (yet) but I'm never home to watch TV so I watch the shows at my own pace. If I wanna watch a live game or something I will hit up a streaming site and watch on my iMac. EVentually I would think Roku will get some sort of AirPlay feature so I can stream to the TV. There's already a janky version of it that someone made but it needs more of a tweak

Yes i have all that but no hd signal is all. Was thinking about picking up one of those hd satellites, which is supposed to be able to broadcast signals from(up to) 100 niles away to your home for free ,in hd

I'm using roku 3 and my note 3 as a remote with the app. Pure piffery. Might have to look into plex. It's cool. I have a Chrome cast in my sons room. Might be more potential in Chrome cast and some free movie websites I know

That legit??

I have an Amazon fire TV that's jail broken
With that, I have no need for Netflix or other such things
I could find and watch any movie or show I could ever think of
There's plenty of live TV but it's not as crisp
You could even watch every single channel from every country
Then there's the pron that never ends
You could watch ppv events as well
