I graduated with a Life Sciences degree and could've went to med school but I turned it down because it's not for me :francis: I dont want to live my life miserable doing a job I dont want even if it is a presitigous job like a doctor :francis:
An MBA won't help that major IMO, you're probably better off choosing another undergrad degree if you don't want to go into medicine

You are fine,you just need to take the GMAT, if you get a decent score then people will know you are competent and have the aptitude

You have an undergrad degree? Why do you think you need to go back? A degree doesn't lock you into one field, that time and money you're willing to waste on another degree could easily finance a move to place with more options if you can't find a gig where you're at. How old are you? You simply sound like you don't know what you want to do, and that's fine, but getting another degree isn't going to solve anything. You should pick up "what color is my parachute" and .strengths finder" to help you explore suitable careers/discover areas where you might fit, then go hard to get into those fields - if you're 25 and under, people will be open to you interning and/or doing temp assignments while gaining exoerience. You need to start networking, find mentors, do informational interviews and just get in the workforce...i simply don't see the value in doing a second bachelors.

Pros/Cons for the two?
They don't really compete. MLT is guided prep thru the MBA application process and a chance to meet admissions execs. They will help you structure your application process from timing when you take the GMAT to essays, visits, chats with current students, and they have a couple forums that bring together all participants nationwide. It's cool to help you connect with other minority mba students - you'll know people at a lot of schools, but I don't think it's necessary to be in nor does it guarantee you acceptance.

Jumpstart pretty much mines MLT and they help connect minority students with mostly consulting and finance companies, if you're interested in those fields, definitely get involved.

I hope you know about consortium - free ride to bschool >>>. Unless you want to work in certain parts of finances or McKinsey Bain bcg, I feel the tradeoff of attending a slightly less prestigious program for a fraction of the debt is worth it. Even then, if you're really a kickass candidate, the doors to those companies aren't closed to you.

Forgot to ask where you're located...life sciences degree you could definitely get in with damn near any pharma company, places like Johnson and Johnson, bayer, medical supply/equipment companies, biotech, research (university, consulting firms, or for corporate), you can become a high school teacher, become a vet, etc. You could even do a MPH and get on with a nice govt job or consulting firm...again, you need to give some thought to what you want to do, more school isn't going to help you decided a career.

@Kotal Kahn
False, big companies like baxter , eli lilly and many more will look for MBAs with a science leaning
The breh is unemployed, my cousin has his masters and was laid off, same background @Kotal Kahn is looking to do (MBA and Biology), not saying he wouldn't find a job, but if he's truly interested in something like Computer Science, Engineering, there are going to be more options. Remember many MBA programs cost just as if not more than an undergraduate degree.

Yeah you covered it. MLT is an excellent program if you're serious about getting your MBA. I have a BS in Computer Engineering and just finished my MBA a little over a year ago. Some have touched on it but my thoughts:

  • If anyone gives you a solid yes or no without knowing your situation, they're giving you bad advice.
  • If you're currently unemployed, you should definitely fix that situation first unless it's because you were a ballin entrepreneur who just rolled off a project. An MBA is a big investment and your want to make sure you're life is in order before you take a step like that.
  • Try to go to the best school you can for a little as possible. Past the top 35-ish school, an MBA becomes really regional, so you'll only get love in the school's city if you have one.
  • Everything you would learn in your MBA, you can learn without making the investment. Literally everything. You're really going because of the network. The learning is eh...
