Anyone here know how to play the guitar?

I’ve played since I was a teen. There wasn’t YouTube back then so I had to teach myself plus I had a cool bass player teach me the basics.
I started off with an acoustic guitar and moved onto electric. If you do start with either make sure you get a quality sounding guitar and amp (speaker).
The standard amp is a Marshall. The top end electric guitars are Fenders (telecaster or Stratocaster) or a Les Paul. I can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure your guitars are top end. You’ll be discouraged if they sound like crap.
It helps a lot if you can find someone you know who already plays guitar because they can help with the most basic of fingering. But with all these YouTube videos you’ll no learn in no time. Just dedicate a few hours a day and you’ll easily pick it up.

I should also add these tips:
- Don’t neglect using your pinky finger when playing. Make sure you utilize it equally with your other fingers. You’ll regret it later on if you don’t.
- Learn every scale possible. Once you understand scales, you’ll understand how chords are built and how basic musicology works.
- Initially, your fingers will start to peel and you will build callus but that’s just normal.
- Take your time and then build up your speed when playing a scale or chord progression. It’s not a race.
Dope thread. I got an acoustic guitar my cousin gave me years ago. Lately, Ive been screwing around on it. I may check the youtube vids out.
I can play and I taught myself with YouTube videos. It took me like six months to finally realize what I was doing and get good but I practiced everyday after work. Funny cause I did it to try and get girls but there was never an opportunity for me to show off my skills in front of some bytches. I’d already fukked a bytch, she sees my guitar in the corner somewhere and asked if I knew how to play and then I could actually show off my chops.
I'm ignant. I'ma fukk around, learn, post up n play in the parking lot while leaning on my whip when the club close.
How hard is it? I only wanted to learn, so I could play some David Bowie songs on the guitar.

Do what you need to do, if it will make it more interesting to you.
Check out the Epiphone les paul. Gives you the look and feel of the Gibson for a fraction of the price.
I don't recommend buying that cheap of a guitar...a shytty setup guitar will make you not want to play.
Shoot for that $150-$200..range of squiers..
