Idk if this is the career for me tbh. Im still not in the program but im close. Not sure if all the stress in the program is worth it though( 2 year degree). :mjcry: . Any nurses on here or anyone who knows any nurses?

Yes, the stress is worth. You will have a lot of sleepless nights studying, up early in the morning for clinicals. Its intense, but so worth it.

It's worth it.
My wife was a RN-BSN and was making good money but the job was a bit too stressful for her. So she went back to school and became a nurse anesthetist.

I've been an ICU nurse for a few years. The schooling was like an annoying marathon, but not necessarily hard. It's a great field to get into especially if your a male. You can get a job anywhere easily. And there is a lot of options for advancement. I'm about to start applying for CRNA school soon.

My sister is a nurse practitioner. Maybe consider that. Its a bit less hands-on from what Ive seen. You get to write prescriptions and sometimes are used at clinics and such in lieu of a doctor. Great money, seems less stressful.

Which is why i work intensive care. All my patients are half dead. If they can talk to me, they are too healthy to be on my floor.
If anyone wants to get into nursing avoid the regular floors. Those kind of jobs are terrible. Luckily I was hired directly into ICU out of school.

I'll be starting an accelerated program in January if I get accepted.

@djthegreat88

Is it a large hospital you got to go straight to icu in? I've heard they don't like to hire new grads. Did you do an accelerated program? Also, I have the opportunity to do a straight to NP program. I was apprehensive because I don't know if I want to commit to NP. What say you?

Yeah, a few of my good friends are nurses, they are senior RNs now, money is good, but very stressful depending on the unit and hospital.
