I know I'm usually the type that can pretty much get along with most everyone in the office regardless. And I been at my job for damn near 3 years. but ever since they brought us in a new manager, it seems like we've been butting heads constantly with her micromanaging and generally being a total nuisance. I've had like 3 bosses since I been here, and everyone has been fine. Since I work remotely, they leave me alone and I just do my thing for the most par.

But not this one. She been here less than a year and besides the annoying emails she's sending me at 10pm on saturdays and evenings the shyt that INFURIATES me the most is she doesn't have any sort of background in what we do.

I work in health care dealing with clinical analytics. But she doesn't have a technical or a clinical background (which I see as a major problem). Which means besides knowing that we have work to do, she has no clue about the type of work her staff does or what our software is used for.

Which also means, that when clients contact her about something related to our work, she cannot speak on it whatsoever. And I thought I was the only one thinking this, but I have heard from my co-workers who pretty much agree with me.

so to compensate for her lack of knowledge, she gives us busywork meetings and reports to dumb down what we're seeing on a week to week basis. and the kicker was on my last performance review, she wants us to meet certain goals, but they don't have a feasible way of tracking if I met them. It's up to me to determine this :snoop:

If you do get on with him, something is wrong.

Just quit. It don't matter how long you been there at any point in time seniority trumps all. My boy is dealing with this right now and it's kind of half his fault for picking places with managers who don't know what they're doing.

I feel you on being autonomous but you got to make sure they don't hire no one above you who will be micro managing and shyt. And be careful of accepting positions where there is no one 1 level above you ALREADY. Because you'll be doing your own thing and doing well for a year, and all of a sudden Micro Managing Mark or Molly show up talking his/her shyt.

Just bounce. At this point you got 3 years hit up some recruiters you've been dodging and rekindle some old connects. Get moving. I've seen this situation play out time and time again and it never works. They just gonna choose it's either him/her or you. Most times it's the person above you. This is why to a certain extent, you got to seek management roles. Because if you a minion, rarely if ever will they take your side, you're still "disposable" and they'll let the incompetent manager stay on and pity them for not being able to backfill your role because [Insert dumb excuse here i.e. - Oh they haven't executed in the field for a while they mostly have handled strategy]

I don't know about your industry but in my industry I have zero respect for a manager who has never executed or done the grunt work or let's their skills get rusty and can't backfill a junior role if need be.

Hope this helps but TL; DR - Peace Outta There!

It's only going to get worst. I went through something similar with a female like others said if she doesn't know what she is talking about but let the title go to her head she'll be a nightmare to deal with now and more so in the future.

Why is that tho? She's on my ass for no reason sometimes

Idk, I work in social work which is dominated by women, I've been lucky enough to have had cool bosses for the most part.

Only had one, who I ended leaving the job because of, and it all boils down to a power trip.

I know they do it a lot in comedies but there is nothing worse than a female boss going through some mid life crisis.

O yea and minority female bosses especially first generation hispanic women, that's yo ass.

I tell managers to their face that they're not my boss. I don't subscribe company hierarchy. I'm not about this sheep life, so I'm gonna start my own shyt.

Be honest. You got a good paying gravy gig and you really don't do much of anything and she's catching on. If this is the case you'll need to pay the maintenance guy to swipe her phone so you can get ahold of her nudes to use as leverage. Good luck
