I’m tryna take down shyt from a distance in the prone. Like in the movies.

Wait u can use AK’s & AR’s:ohhh: maybe u was right @ElMorenoFeo809

5.56’s drop deers?

-You need to get familiar with both standing and stalking. Learn how to build stands in trees, especially in areas with large amounts of brush. Brush provides good cover for deers and can be difficult to shoot through.

-When stalking, pay attention to the wind. Needs to be in your face, otherwise, your scent gonna be all in its nose.

-Patience is king. If you’re new, understand that your first few hunting sessions should be building a spatial layout of the land more than trying to kill. Knowing how to cover ground and move across it with the least amount of noise is important. I’ve had sessions where I moved 5-6 steps in an hour because I caught wind of a deer in a volatile location and didn’t wanna scare him off. Twigs are your worst enemy. Make sure to step heel first and feel for those twigs when you’re stepping. One cracked twig can ruin hours of work.

I’m talking slow like walk for 15 seconds, stop, listen for a minute, and so forth. Make sure you use those binoculars too.

Learn your trees though. I got a couple I use for quick spotting while stalking (Easy to climb for me) , a couple I have stands already set in high traffic areas, etc.

Stands are more boring, IMO, but it’s much easier to rack up successful kills. Especially as a new hunter. Do both.

The more you go out, the higher your sense of awareness goes up. Being in the woods / forest is kind of like listening to music. To the layman they hear a drum, a snare, maybe a horn. In the woods you'll hear leaves, wind, rustling , birds, bugs...once you get that ear just like a musician who hears a kick drum, high hat, snare, clap, horn, baseline, effects panning in different ears...youll know your hearing black birds, squirrels, something in the trees closer to you or farther from you, something walking or coming toward you and away, cicadas, branches breaking/moving from animals.

And even seeing stuff I can spot a small red squirrel in a big Green tree with lots of leaves and low visibility and I can find them in the brown/red / yellow leaves where they blend in.

It takes time though. Being able to spot minimal movements and deciphering very quick small sounds such as movement in the tree vs wind blowing through the trees, a squirrel chirping /barking vs chewing or cutting .

:snoop:

I fukked up today. I have a large tree in my backyard and I have a resident squirrel, in the morning im hearing rustling on my roof and it's other squirrels. There are about 4 other squirrels occupying the tree or at least they come over to fight. They fight in the tree, on my roof and on the ground .Long story short 5 squirrels is too many for that tree. Also they chew up them little helicopter leaves that grow on the tree and they fall all over my deck and deck furniture. I have to sweep it off twice a week and my girl and the kids like to eat outside.

So I get my air rifle and I have a squirrel probably 10 yards away facing me like

My air rifle is .22. I'm used to using either a .17hmr, a . 22lr rifle or my shotgun, so I line up and shoot him right in the face.

Youre supposed to either shoot below the ear or heart / lung.

I got him just to the right of the nose, it didn't die. It bled, but it just chilled and looked at me. My follow up shot hit him in the face too. He ran down the tree and into the neighbors yard.

With my shotgun he wouldve been dead, multiple pellets hitting it's face and head, .17hmr and .22 would've popped his head like a plum or lime/kiwi. The air rifle just doesn't have what it takes , thus why you always take the best placement shot or don't shoot. I didn't want to do a heart or lung shot because I haven't shot my air rifle since last year and even though I can hit a dime on a string from 20 yards I wasn't sure it was still sighted in and I didn't and don't want a squirrel running around with a pellet in a non lethal area of its back or body, my intention with the shot was to drop it immediately. I now know better. I'm definitely still sighted in and only take the best possible shot or don't shoot .

I did that so yall won't have to go through that.

HPppy to see brehs discussing hunting!

We talk about defeating or competing with white supremacy...and we wouldn't even be able to feed ourselves if that system fell!

Couple things...

Avoid going hunting alone. Listen to some Missing 411 eps on youtube. Real ish.

Watch your diet and habits (smoking/drinking) before going out. You'll be surprised how alien we smell to animals.

If you can afford, invest in a gps.

Always scout the weather.

And be careful of people! Animal predators are not the worst things out there.

.

I'm gonna check the series but I mainly hunt alone, as do a few people I know. Because some of the hunting spots are so close its nothin to go out for an hour or to. Just leave a note and take your cell (which doesn't always have reception).

We don't live near dangerous game tho, although there are some mountain lions that's west and North, we arent close to that territory. Is there an ep your referring to or just the whole series?

This is true. I’d honestly invest in 2 GPS. One for regular use and a backup in your backpack.

Hunting alone is very dangerous. shyt can get real bad, real quick. I sprained my ankle pretty bad when I was climbing a tree and you’d be surprised at how difficult things can seem when you’re in pain. If you go hunt alone, make sure you let someone know to check in on you at a certain time and give them an idea of the area you’ll be in so if you’re not heard from, people know where to start searching for.

Being careful of people is huge. I’ve met some really cool people but I’ve met some extremely off people too. Some of the biggest threats to our black asses are people big into survivalist culture. You’d be surprised at how easy it could be for cats with even a little hunting knowledge and a good layout for a deep wilderness to hide a body.

The ep is Missing 411 Hunters specifically, but peep all them.

Just be careful out there breh and I'm not referring only to predatory animals. Listen to 411 and you'll get the drift.
