Arguably the worst community 'trait' within the black community over the last couple of generations has been collective ambivalence to mental health issues, and stigmatizing seeking out quality professional health care to deal these problems. The toxic variables of racism, poverty, persistent violence, etc unique to our world has handed many of us a psychology that has been likened to PTSD. Its a sobering question to wonder how many terrible outcomes could have been circumvented if black people had access to someone to talk to who cares.
If anyone needs counseling, psychiatric or less formalized, its us. Hopefully this becomes more of a rallying cry in the coming years.
