Around Indianapolis area, 10 miles outside of Indy? Housing, quality of life, any nikka issues, etc? Looking for sound input as to whether it is OK to move there, raise a family etc.

I went to Purdue University and lived in Naptown for 2 years after college. Honestly, if your main focus is to raise a family, its an ok city to raise kids. The northside from Castleton, Carmel, to Zionsville is the best parts of the city, Haughville, southside, and eastside if you want cheap living albeit a little more rough.
All and all its alrigh city, C rated at best. The best things going for it are the sports teams and events, and the conventions downtown, other than that I personally would never live there again.

Yeah, you would be living too good in Nap(Indianapolis) with that type of salary and starting a family. You could literally afford to do everything in the city plus go up to Chicago( 2 1/2 hours) away if you wanted. You should look into the Carmel area, great area for starting a family.
To give you an example I was making $45k in Indy back in 08' living in 3 bedroom 2 bath house in Broad Ripple for $950 month, and had more than enough money to do the things I wanted to do.
