Anyone know why Alex Riley was a commentator all these years?

A year ago Alex Riley found himself on television weekly and was getting a fairly large push after breaking away from being The Miz's apprentice.

In the fall, Riley began appearing on television less and less. When he did appear, he would not be booked in a favorable way.

PWInsider.com is reporting the push got halted due to an incident with John Cena. Reportedly, Cena was ribbing Riley in front of other wrestlers and Riley came back at Cena very angrily. When Riley reacted this way, it was viewed by many as him breaking the locker room code and nature among the boys.

I remember Bryan put him over a lot in interviews in like 2013...but Cena is against him for some reason.

Another time he botched was in the 2011 Royal Rumble. He was supposed to eliminate Cena but before that could happen, Riley slipped and accidentally eliminated himself . I remember Kofi and Cena were looking at each like. So the refs and superstars had to improvise and Miz (who wasn't even a part of the RR) ended up eliminating Cena.



Riley eliminating Cena could've been like Maven eliminating Taker.

So he fukked up at the ROYAL RUMBLE, including the elimination spot for their #1 guy

Then he tried to get gully over a rib

I dont like Cena at all but this dude did those things to himself

Good thing he's not black or you guys would have heart attacks (but still watch every week)

With that said, his current angle with Owens on NXT is cool and he's in better shape than everyone on the main roster besides Cena, so maybe he can come back from his demotion

WWE only cares about the top of the card. Lot of guys get lost in the shuffle. Going the commentary route was a way to keep a job really. If you listen to the Jericho podcast with Justin Gabriel, he talks about why he quit the E, and it's all good stuff I ain't even mad at him. I wouldn't be surprised to see more peeps quit their dream job of being in the E because of lack the lack of opportunities given to them despite them having 5 hours of TV per week.

Can't believe Cena really buried dude. That's so lame. Corny, played out gimmick aside I always thought Cena was a decent dude IRL. That's kinda foul.

It wasn't all Cena, he fukked up a couple times playing out simple shyt (the Rumble thing as people mentioned, the NXT season 2 ending), plus he was busted for a DUI and was never above decent in the ring. The Cena stuff is just speculation or maybe not as serious as it seems. I was always a fan of Riley and felt like he could have been a major player down the line
