Anyone live(d) in Alief or Southeast/Southwest Houston? Experiences?

SWAT use to be dangerous. calm down alot though. mad boring. there use to be some bad chics walking around too

Truth, it's pretty safe now. People still think it's 2006-2009 after Katrina.
Mayor Parker launched a full out crime assault in the Southwest, built a supplemental police station right between Braeswood and Forum Park/Woodfair (Former worst area of the HPD's worst district), smart ass woman.

Stay out of the wrong places and you're good.

Lived in Alief my whole life until college.

Some of the white kids went to private schools because Alief was gettin real hood in the early 90s. Alief has been black/Asian/Hispanic for a long time. Almost all the white people moved out now.

At Taylor when I went there in 2010, there were about 10 white kids in the whole school of about 2000 students. I suspect Elsik and Hastings had even less.

My family started off in Forum Park, until I was 5, went to Best Elementary over there.
Then we moved down Bissonnet to Kirkwood, and we've been living there since. Hopefully my dad can make that move to Sugarland within the next year, don't really like my parents being there.

I lived out in Alief for some years. Stayed in some townhomes off of Bissonnett and Wilcrest across from the Kipp Academy for a couple of years. had a lil starter house out in Lakes Of Bellaire over there by Taylor High School and the Alief YMCA. Stayed in some hood ass apartments called Park Village for a minute too. Alief is really not a terrible area contrary to what some say yea you had a few hard heads running around after Katrina but I never had any issues in any of my spots out in the SWAT. Now I wouldn't raise my family in Alief but if you just getting started and trying to save some money there are worse off areas to live in in Houston.
