Anyone make mac and cheese without egg?

I’ve been tasked with making the mac and cheese this year, which I’m assuming is punishment for not having Thanksgiving at my house. My mom talkin bout, since you have the new furniture and everything, we should have it here.

I’m not hosting a major event like that. We did BBQs over the summer, but’s an outdoor event. I’m not having my niece and nephew over for a major meal on my cream dining room chairs.

But my sister told me to make the mac and cheese since we’re doing it at her place, and she’s not happy, because we do Christmas there. But she’s the one with the kids, so why not.

I usually put eggs in it, but I’m thinking about switching it up, maybe a homemade cheese sauce.

I've only eaten macaroni and cheese one time in my life cause I thought it was some cac shyt. The Kraft shyt.

So whenever I've seen it I've assumed it was a cac dish with or without the box.

I made a 4 cheese roux and put it over some al dente shells and put real breadcrumbs from bread in a food processor on top and put it in the oven.


It was fine :yeshrug: crispy on top, good sauce, noodles were noodles. It was the first and only time I've ever had macaroni, I never looked up any recipes. Where does an egg go? And I guess what does it do for the flavor or consistency?

Put butter in a medium high pan, then add in flour and milk

Stir until it's smooth - not too liquidy, but not too solid

Then add lots of cheese - mozzarella and cheddar are the main ones, but you can add more varieties.

Then mix until perfect, and add it to the boiled pasta.

Yup and with a little bit of mustard

cheese sauce, touch of dry mustard and the smallest bit of cheap ass imitation truffle oil.
This is not the first time I heard of making it with mustard.

We’ve always used sharp cheddar, Monterrey Jack, and Colby jack, milk, butter (real butter, not margarine) eggs, salt and pepper, and panko breadcrumbs on top.

It’s been that way since I was little, and my grandma was cutting up blocks of cheese. I use shredded cheese because I’m lazy.

My mom made the Patti Labelle mac and cheese back when she was on Oprah. It was fire too.
