anyone remember those bmi ads, I just seen someone mention it and it brought back memories. I'm sure @Wacky D got some stories, I remember hearing how people would order cds and get them sent to different houses

BMG Music Service and Columbia House...They kind of got over a bit because they charged shipping for each CD/tape instead of the whole package, but it was still a great deal. I think music sales would increase dramatically if that shyt was brought back.

had this thread on the..but if you did it wrong or forget to cancel. they would charge you 24 dollars for every cd you got or would send them if you didn't order and still charge you.

Straight up.

Literally HALF my collection too.

You'd order your 12 "free" CD's and have to order like 1 or 2 at full price and then cancel the shyt.

I remember seeing these in magazines or whatever, when I was a broke little kid, with aspirations to own all these rap albums....I was like 'man I can get 12 cents right now' my mom had to explain that shyt was a scam, and they would charge you full price for 20 cd's, something like that. I don't even know how I came up with money to buy cds back then, chores and shyt? cashing in gift cards for books for money? saving lunch money?

I have an older brother who did that with Columbia House back in the mid-90's. He'd get a shytload of CD's in.....and I'd run in his room when he was gone and record all them shyts to cassette tape. I remember the wolves was at the door though, they was sending him all kind of threatening letters demanding pay. Come to find out this ni99a had the account in my name

All I remember after that is he wrote them a letter saying I was dead and they left him alone.

Yup, the hustle was in full effect with this. There was a house for sale in my neighborhood that me and a few of my friends would get them shipped too. We were able to pull it off for a long time.

In college I got so many damn CDs from that. I would just use fake names and sign up. Then I had a friend that handled mail for the dorm so I would use other people's names and have him snatch the CDs out for me. Then I'd just never respond to any of their follow ups.

I used to eat so good off of this scheme right here. They probably lost more money than they made with people not paying like they were supposed to. Which is probably the reason that they stopped doing it.
