I don't think they fell for anything.

They know what originally happened to that kid.

By some miracle(as they thought) they get that phone call and figure they can alleviate the guilt they possess for killing that kid.

I think they felt they owed this "kid" for what they did to the original, and that was evident by the sister still appearing at the airport after they lady informed her that was indeed not her brother.

I think the mother and brother(who conveniently overdosed) were directly responsible for the kids death. The father or uncle whomever that was and sister just had to live with it.

Yall can call me stupid but the whole time I thought the actor was literally Frederic. For real. They did some crazy make up cause they looked like twins. I thought the director gave him a little change to be on the documentary but I went to IMDB and read it's an actor. Major mindfukk.

I have not seen the documentary, but I read a 15 page article about it back in the day. The dude had more nerve than a toothache.
Wasn't he damn near bald and kept wearing a hat or did I misremember that?
Well turns out he just had receding hairline but Wikipedia says this dude already has 4 kids?
When did he find the time to be running around impersonating children?

Just finished watching this today and they are fukking retarded. I don’t buy that they took him in to cover their guilt, because there was no suspicion of them to begin with.

Also the kid that went missing was bad as hell I read up on him he would curse his mom out and beat her up. Little cac was a truant, had multiple tattoos at 13 and would leave the house and come back whenever he wanted.
