Anyone Taken A Speech Class In College Before?

I gotta take a speech class this semester, it's a requirement for my degree.

Anyone on here taken one before? What was it like? What did you do? I had a presentation last semester that I completely whiffed on. Completely choked and embarrassed myself in front of class, so I'm not looking forward to a class that's 100% based on giving presentations in front of everyone.

yeah, you give 4 or 5 speeches during the semester with different types. for instance, one might be informative, one might be persuasive, etc. it was a waste of time and money.

think about it like you are talking to a small group of your friends but you are in control of the conversation.
they don't have shyt to say about the topic and they are all over what you have to say about it.

if you know that what you are spitting is hot fire then just spit it.

Regardless of the type of speech speak about what you know so you'll be comfortable. Comfort w/subject matters makes it much much easier if you have those anxiety issues

Yeah, it was annoying as shyt but I got thru it. You really learn how to bullshyt your way thru presentations after taking it tho so

Lol, I am taking one this upcoming semester too..communication class. It's an easy A but I hate presenting, just gonna have to do it and get it over with I guess. I took the latest class so I can have a chill crowd

Yea. Oddly enough for an introvert I did pretty well.

My class allowed us to do presentations on whatever subject matter we wanted so maybe that's why it was easier for me.

I never really had an issue with public speaking.

I think I got a b or c. Could have an A but I wasn't studious, something I need to work on this term.

Anyway, like one said, 4 speeches and for my class we had impromptus too.

The only speech I remember doing was one on YSL and how he changed the fashion game by hiring the first black female model and making the first suit for women.

People laughed with me and it helped open me up more.

He recorded the speeches so we could go online and watch them too. Watching myself made me feel weird.

Every speech class in the US is like this.
Get rid of your verbal ticks, make sure you can do everything in the alotted time, be organized, and you'll do great.
I got an A, and was barely awake during class because I was waking up at 5:30 and traveling for 2 hours everyday

Yeah I had to do one. One was informational another persuasive. Then the others were something we wanted to talk about ourselves. I don't have stage fright so I'm natural about it.
You're thinking too much about it. There's probably people in that class more nervous than you. Just get up there and talk. Looking straight at the wall can help because it looks like you're looking at everyone when you're not

My teacher always told me to have some type of humor in your presentations. It loosens up your audience.
