And yeah it's only when the screen is off
It only works if the screen is off & if you long press (1-1.5 secs) the volume up or down. So If you just press the volume up or down w/ the screen off it'll work the volume. In the whip I leave it on max and listen to music through bluetooth.

you can change the setting to just one click. Its not as good/smooth as the one built into custom rom, but its a decent temporary fix.
