Can you give me some info on the grad school program?

I just got my AA, ideally if I pursue this path then it means that I'm left out of school for 2 years which I don't mind, but I'd like to hear other options (for the hell of it)

http://www.peacecorps.gov/volunteer/learn/whyvol/eduben/mastersint/

I've just looked at the degree I'm interested in so I don't know if the program is the same for all of them.
One year in a grad program, two years with the Peace Corps, you have a Masters degree. I think they pay for all of it too (BIG plus for me).
You have to be accepted to the hosting university and then the Peace Corps Masters International deal through two application processes though. Again check out the link, this is all just my quick reading of it.

Where do you want to go?
They have one in Macedonia that starts in September that I'm interested in, but it says to apply by Jan 2014 so I'm not sure if they mean by the end of Jan or beginning, but like I mentioned I emailed a recruiter so I should possibly be seeing her on the 11th.

What about you?

I'll check it out, but either way I'm actually kind of at peace with the idea of taking time away from school; especially when I have an AA already. A BA is just right down the road.

Tell me how it works out for you, you should meet a recruiter as well.

Edit: oh it's for those pursuing their masters only. Oh well, cheers.

I'm not sure. I'd probably see where they would want to place me first, and then choose a place from those options. The last time I looked up any information about about a year ago. If I decide to go, It will not be anytime soon (maybe 5 years from now).

Do you have to know how to speak other languages to join or no? What do you plan on doing in Macedonia?

Why 5 years from now?

Um, in some places you do like Latin America, but in other places you don't need to. Keep in mind that you'll be there for 2 years so by then you'll learn the language (if you're willing ofc).

I don't plan on doing anything as of now other than getting in contact with the recruiter as I just discovered the option of joining the peace corp today. But what they're doing in Macedonia is teaching children English (I believe). Again I need to read as much on the peace corp as possible.

I'm in school. I want to wait until I'm finished with it. If I don't have the job that I want within a year after graduating, then I'll probably join.

My college professor did it and became a representative.

She liked it, helping people and doing something for a cause.

She was in South America somewhere

She told us how much she got sick because the water but was able to get some government assistance to get their water treated

I was going to try and rationalize with you, but I respect your decision. Best of luck.

Thanks, it's good to hear good things from something other than the website.

I was interested in joining but I transferred from the school.

If your heart is in helping people

Go ahead and do it.

People need help, a lot of people like being selfish and think about the negatives when the positives is all that matters.

I enjoy helping people, I'm just hoping that I get accepted into this.

Yeah that's a shame that's where their energy goes.

My ex girl just got out the peace corps in Peru ..now she's back packing all thru South America with her friend..you'll be in there for like 27 months..you should already be learning a language ..I don't know if they'll accept you if you don't know their language,,she already knew a lil Spanish but had to brush up on it with rossette stone before she went..don't expect to be in a city..you'll be in a village out in the middle of nowhere where you can barely use the Internet...you'll also be living with a family..but if you like helping the community then you'll like it

Thanks but in certain places they don't require you to know the language. South American countries they do, but I wanted to go to Macedonia. Living there for 2 years, I'll probably learn the language in 4-6 months.

But thanks, I'm having doubts today anyway.
