Unsung just means underappreciated in this context, would say Joe is, he's got a great discography and has been part of a lot of history and sometimes doesn't get his due.

Anyone have a link to the episode?

He's kinda the definition of Unsung, honestly. Because if you asked someone in 1993 what current rapper would still be around droppin' hits in 2016... just goin' off of who was dope at the time, MFs probably would've guessed a lot of people before they said Fat Joe. You might've guessed Treach, Cube, somebody from Death Row... but not Fat Joe on Relativity Records with the "Flow Joe" song... not a chance. Dude was never considered one of the best MCs or anything like that but he's still here... and made some good music thru the years and never became the "old guy".

i dont understand this Unsung shyt... i mean how is a platinum selling artist Unsung? i get that Fat Joe isnt a musical icon or anything...but if anything Joe has hideously exceeded all expectations to this point.

Basically the premise is that they were stars on the r&b /rap side but for one reason or another didn't become superstars overall. Now it might as well be the black Behind The Music, but that's the concept, people that you don't immediately think of but had good runs in music.

Fat Joe has an underrated run but he also had one of biggest hits of the last 15 years.

I think they are basically at the point where they are putting on anyone they think will generate ratings. They have certainly moved away from their original purpose. It think it's a situation where they have a name that is established and don't see a real need in changing it.

Is that really unsung though? If we are talking surprising longevity then yeah he's up there but I don't think you can really say he hasn't been recognized for what he is. BET just did a special on him a couple months ago (it was TS but it wasn't much different from that "Unsung" :heh:). There are dudes that have been way more influential that are way less known. I actually think his relevance is the reason they picked him.

one of the worst unsung's.

-the timeline was so bad, they kept jumpin back and forth
-spent like 3 minutes on Big Pun
-spent 30 seconds on 50 Cent beef.

UnSung is usually only good with R&B acts

EPMD, Big Daddy, too short, yoyo and Arrested Development were pretty good.

Think this fat joe version was trash. Have no interest in seeing a fat joe unsung. Also they need to stop saying he put latin rappers on the map acting like he was the first latin rapper to get major play.

That would be Cypress Hill who they should have done a unsung on. Honorable mention would be Kidd Frost who came out before Cypress Hill.

Yep it is a ratings grab now. They are running out of ideas and folks are turning down the show. Cause there are still a bunch of folks they can talk about.

The World, but from BK
Joe's wife is a good look.

Joe's does a have a dope discography. Joe had 3 dope back-to-back albums. I still think J.O.S.E. was the best hiphop record of 2001...then Stillmatic.

Saw this now, it's commendable how Joe kept going and kept dropping hits, it's crazy what he did, he kept reinventing himself and most of time still made dope songs from Flow Joe to Wha's Luv to Lean Back to All The Way Up, all different styles but all good songs, lots of others too. When you look at the type or artist he was initially it's crazy what he did too, it could have gone either way but he did it. His discography also very solid, he's got a very dope 1 overall when you look at it, I've always felt he was underrated, he's made a lot of good music and he can really spit too.

He's also a testament of how networking and connections are so important, he had the street credibility to make it work and also the personality by and large to be able to call in a favour when needed, he had the stroke to get a KRS on Bronx Tale, Ja and Ashanti, Lil Wayne, R Kelly, Nas, Raekwon'. Up and coming artists can learn from his story, keep your relationships right and don't fukk them up over dumb shyt, loyalty also through, he was right to do certain ish, New York record, even ultimately peacing up with Remy and 50, and Jay, more bread. Peace definitely better than war, when you war for real can often lose resources instead of making them, Joe got it now, not that many beefs left. I hope 1 day he can squash it with Liza and Cuban, but not sure if that will ever happen, but would be a good move, particularly in honour of Pun if that could be done 1 day, don't even have to be best friends but just a peace, they all made history together. Pun is a legend and helped Joe a lot too, they helped eachother.
