Mickey on that last shot prior to the credits

“It’s Whitney looking through a glory hole,” Down said. “We shot this entire scene of him in Lithuania, having escaped, where he is talking to a man at the bar, the implication being: Is that man a potential lover, or is it someone that’s going to be a threat? And you leave him on this moment where he follows the guy into the bathroom, and the guy says, ‘Come in here,’ and there’s a glory hole, and we shot Whitney through it. If you are eagle-eyed, you’ll see that we used one frame of it basically.”
I must’ve missed this….?

Those Yasmin/Ghislane comparisons were all spot on :ohhh:

Yas really embraced all the darkness huh :francis:
Yasmin only stumbled into this because she was exposed to it, but it shows how she literally has no moral compass or wherewithal. Instead of being uncomfortable and eventually finding her way, she becomes a madam because…she can? :yeshrug:

She’s a socialite with a name that attracts people and she needs money (because she has none from her dad and she probably isn’t getting much from the divorce).

Yas never learned how to truly carve out her own spot in the world, so instead of using her own “c*nt”, in the words of her father, she’s using other women’s bodies to make her way.

She literally tells Harper that she’s found her purpose or something that makes her useful…whatever Harper said to her in the past, she says it back to Harper as if this she’s supposed to understand Yasmin’s decision :skip:

Now, I will say I think she partially felt trapped because she doesn’t believe that a tape doesn’t exist. Ol girl is really holding that situation over her head. Same way the Asian girl recorded Eric, Hayley totally recorded them. Yas knows deep down that girl could extort her or sell her story.

However, when the girl said she wanted to be like Yas, she wanted to meet people, I thought she meant actually meet people, not be a prostitute or madam in training.

Yas really turned out to be irredeemable.

Some people really are fukked up from childhood, see the worst in humanity throughout the rest of their lives and fall into the same darkness.

And hold up— why did we never see Yas’s mother again?! I know they didn’t get along but her mother wasn’t present in any moment since they had that lunch/dinner seasons ago.

I have so many questions. Did Eric really know he was sleeping with an underaged girl? How do yall interpret that last scene with the voicemail of her dad? What was that scene with the flight attendant? Harper considering being done with this line of work?
What the fukk was that flash after the title card?!?

I really love this show.
No, Eric didn’t know.

That was going to be a way to blackmail him.

I didn’t get a chance to rewatch anything this week so I need someone to help me with the Henry/Yas situation:

Yas realized Henry was going to be left holding the bag so she needed to divorce him for practical reasons, and he violated the terms of the prenup by cheating and doing drugs so she had an out…

But Henry literally got into this mess because of Yas. There was a brief moment of clarity because Harper opened Yasmin’s eyes and she told Henry that they were tricked, but, while she was smart enough to run to the uncle, how did she convince him to help clear her name and not pull Henry in??

Yes he needed to “face consequences” one day, but I still didn’t get how the Uncle didn’t find a way to help him too seeing as he didn’t actually do anything wrong besides take too long to see the signs.

The dichotomy of Harper’s will to be undeniable and Yas’s will to simply be necessary. :ohlawd:

Exceptional analysis. Many points I hadn’t considered particularly around the tape.

I actually thought Eric requested someone underage. The girl looked young as hell. Eric saying “make me feel big”, During the interview with Whitney Eric having a moment of clarity about the dominance of his Id, and finally the girl had an uncanny resemblance to his daughter…very very dark stuff. The complexity of his character is so interesting but they need to find Eric floating in the Thames season 5.

The way he reacted when he saw the image of her passport made me think he was scared and unaware that the girl was underage. That’s why he resigned. Sleeping with a prostitute…they all do that. Her being underage is what made him run.

But the girl def looked like his daughter which was sick enough

Definitely possible. But I just thought the notion of being videotaped and subject to blackmail is what terrified him initially.
The focus on his relationship with his daughter and his inability to connect emotionally and then the scene with his daughters lookalike prostitute really made me think the two are story arcs were related.
