When ol'boy said "my hatred was pure" I was hooked. Crazy how everyone in government knew the war was a waste, yet everyone was afraid to stop something that everyone hated.

People are sheep. That line from Men In Black is epicly true. Even right now, all the REpublicans and dikk riding Trump because no one wants to be the one to say "the emperor has no clothes."

Lmao @NAP arguing back and forth with people in this thread after he clearly had not watched a minute of this 17 hour series :dead:

Like clearly his comments show he’s a paid shill why is he still allowed to post and ruin the Russia thread?

Not Burns best work, misses a lot of key things and doesn't cover some angles but it's got great production values and it's a perfect introduction to the era and the war as a whole.

Just started watching this yesterday. Ive been on a vietnam war spree ever since watching platoon for the first time last week (i know :snoop:). I remember reading this book "fallen angels" by walter dean harris back in high school like 03-04, it was about a black soldier from harlem that joined vietnam and it was dope as fukk i remember reading it twice. Also loved movies like dead presidents, full metal jacket, apocalypse now etc but somehow never managed to see platoon which i now consider the best vietnam war movie

Anyway, this documentary has everything i ever wanted to know about vietnam. Incredible fukkinfg detail and all the old footage, presidential recordings, missions, soldiers from both sides, military tactics..i can go on and on but goddamn what a documentary im fully engaged right now im in the middle of episode 3

on daily motion just write "The Vietnam war 01/01 for a great upload with a option to cast to your tv. For part 2 of episode just search "The vietnam war 01/02", episode 2 would be "02/01" and so forth and so forth

I also read that book in high school. Loved it! And if I can remember correctly, that same teacher introduced me to Platoon for the first time.

this shyt is infuriating to watch. that fukkin war was a crime against humanity, against every kid they sent over there to die for nothing, and obviously against the vietnamese

So just started watching this last night and damn this shyt is really good. There is so much stuff I had no idea about and I consider myself a significant history buff. :ohhh:

What makes it particularly good is that the first episode goes a lot into the history of Vietnam under French rule and before the war and I find that history more fascinating than the war itself.

In retrospect it highlights the arrogance and narrow mindedness of American perspective and sadly it's still applicable.
