All shyt talking aside it really is. By the end of the year homie gonna regret living in the bay. Super dry in real life compared to other locations for blacks. The bay is like the only place in the U.S that is ALL marketing hype, from how "urban" it is (it's not at all) to the women (the ugliest on average hands down) to opportunities (if your black it's minimal at best).
shyt so dry nikkas sit around an make up slang all day:mjcry:

It is dry though. Straight up. Don't believe the hype. The bay is where lames go to be "cool".

One thing you should definitely hit up if it doesn't rain tomorrow is First Friday on Telegraph/Grand in Oakland, it starts at 6pm and ends around 10pm. It's a free block party that happens on the first Friday of every month with different stages and vendors, there's usually a hip hop cypher there that starts around 6:30.

If you fukk with the Hip Hop dance club scene hit up Oakland, New Karribean City (14th/Webster) and Venue (14th/Franklin) are the #1 Hip Hop clubs in town. Aside from them there's a number of clubs playing a mix of top 40 hip hop/r&b and some local stuff, Era Art Bar & Lounge (Grand/Broadway) is straight. If you're over 30 you might fukk with the bar/club scene in Old Oakland, it mostly caters to 30+ black women. The rest of the clubs in Oakland play pop/edm or salsa. If you not looking to dance but want a fun night out you could check out Plank in Jack London Square, it's an upscale bowling alley and arcade that serves alcohol until midnight. There's always some bad ones in there, it's more fun if you come with a group of at least 4 though (and if you bowl you pay a flat fee for a lane per hour so it's better to split it).

A good club in San Francisco is Bissap Baobab on 19th/Mission, it's a Senegalese club with a mixed crowd that plays Nigerian club music. The options for Hip Hop clubs in SF are pretty sparse these days, Skylark (16th/Valencia) is the main one that comes to mind.

There's a ton of concert venues, January lowkey is off-season for shows but if you tryna see somebody live there's a chance are they'll be playing somewhere. The best places to catch a Hip Hop show audio-wise are New Parish (Oakland), The Warfield (SF), The Catalyst (Santa Cruz), Fox Theater (Oakland) and Slim's (SF). Just off a quick search here's some of the people playing this week:

Nef Tha Pharaoh (1/8 @ The Catalyst)
RA The Rugged Man & AFRO (1/14 @ The Catalyst)
R Kelly (1/15 @ Oracle Arena)
A Boogie With Da Hoodie (1/22 @ New Parish)
Beatnuts, Rapper Big Pooh & Termanalogy (1/25 @ The Catalyst)
RTJ (2/3 @ Fox Theater)
DRAM (2/14 @ Social Hall)
Vince Staples (2/25 @ Fox Theater)
The rest of the nightlife in SF is centered around cocktail bars, art galleries and lounges, there's no dress codes enforced in most places but the vibe can be :mjpls:and especially if you ain't checking for white women. If you not trippin on that though then check out Polk Street or the Mission.

If you into clothes then you definitely gotta slide through the City, it's some spots in Oakland too but you gotta know where to go.

If you collect CDs or Vinyl then definitely stop by Amoeba Music (Telegraph Ave in Berkeley or Haight Street in SF) and Park Blvd Records in Oakland. Park Blvd Records is a small shop (strictly Hip Hop though) ran by the dude who used to run the Cocaine Blunts blog back in the day, he got a GREAT selection of 90s and 2000s CDs and lets them go for great prices.

If you into the tech/gaming scene at all there's a video game museum in North Oakland that's open on weekends (12-6pm), it's literally a library of damn near every game ever created for every system going back to the Atari and you can play them there.

If you're into museums and history there's a lot of great places in SF and Oakland, depends what you're tryna see tbr.

Idk how long you staying out here to this should all probably be more than enough to check out if you only out here for a short minute.
This is pretty detailed. That all sounds pretty dope....

Bay Area FOR THE WIN.

What would you recommend :jbhmm:
Theres more active legit hip hop clubs in SF/Oakland now than ever before (since i been alive, going on 30). And you recommended a Walnut Creek (:mjpls:) Irish bar that just happens to have a dance floor and does hip hop from time to time.

I remember 1st time I went to Crogans they followed me and my friends around half the night with flash lights, claiming it was due to our dress code :dame: (fun fact, Crogans had no dress code, at least at the time, its a bar, not a club, and we were over dressed for it, thinking it was a club -- we had collard shirts, etc :heh: )

Oakland:
Parliament
New Parish
New Karribean City
Venue

Unless special events happening

Sf:
Holy Cow (open thurs-saturday, cracking down on crowd though due to recent shooting)
The Roc
The Grand
Origin
Hue
Empire Room(more asian heavy crowd, but still all hip hop)
Infusion (open weds-Saturday, industry hip hop nights weds/thursday, better on Thursday)
2nd floor of Temple (top floor on Thursday, industry night)
Balancore
Harlot (Sunday night only, some Wednesday)
The End Up(sundaze / sunday day party)

All play hip hop every Friday and Saturday night
