I don't get this. Kick Push was produced by Soundtrakk who was Lupe's guy from Chicago and I'm pretty sure he made the track pre-signing his deal, so I don't get how Apathy's offered the beat at all.
Looking in the replies, he's backtracking about hearing the beat, so I think what happened was Atlantic might have pushed him at the time to make a cut w/ a skateboarding theme (probably because Kick, Push was already in the motions to be a debut single for Lupe, so they might have already name-checked it), as they've done those kind of requests before (I know people who were signed to Atlantic in the ringtone era who were requested to make a chorus for a single specifically mentioning phones/calls by the label) and he's misremembering it as being offered 'Kick, Push' specifically.
