Naw doesn’t make sense.

Kick push was made before Atlantic was being pushed out of Lu and Chilly pockets. Atlantic even went out of the way to buy the song from the artist in the Philippines or some shyt to strong arm Lu.

title is inconsistent with video

the thread title says he was offered the "beat" but he was actually offered the entire song and image concept along with the beat

nonetheless, a white boy rapper skateboarding is less capturing than a audio juxtaposition of Chicago hoods and a black skateboarder within them .... so this apathy cat likely woulda had a dud if he accepted the song

Sounds like they gave Apathy the same concept, not the same beat. :yeshrug:

:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh: i thought i was the only one hip to apathy/demigodz/aotp, this site keeps on surprising me - celph titled was one of my personal favorite artists out that crew

AOTP has been posted here many times before. Most underground rap the last several years just get less and less engagement here, so folks just stopped pushing them as much. It's the same story across hip hop news sites.

definitely not. I used to attend their shows(got pics) and buy all of their albums back in the day. The EC vs Demigodz beef is one of the best ever that goes unnoticed. Louis Logic was dope too. He came to my city and did a show and no one knew who he was. I still got pics of that show too almost 20 years ago.

Who's EC? :whoo:

Atlantic real hands on with their artists.

Are all the labels like this or do some give greater creative freedom?

Eastern Conference. Eastern Conference had Cage, Camu Tao, Tame One at the time(he didn't get involved in the beef), Vast Aire from Cannibal Ox, El-P(now known for Run the Jewels), . The demigodz had Esoteric, Celph Titled, Apathy(didn't get involved) and Louis Logic(didn't get involved). I actually asked Louis logic why he didn't participate in the beef hahaha. Some great diss songs came from it

That Demigodz shyt was definitely for teenagers breh :dead:
I wouldn't say that. most of the people at the time would call them "nerd rap", but they didn't go out of their way to make pop songs crossing over to the TRL crowd. The most poppy shyt that Esoteric did was with John Cena. Most people called Doom "nerd rap" back then too and put him in the same category as EC, Demigodz, Extended Famm, and Living Legends. Now Doom got a big push with the Boondocks and Cartoon Network along with his death a few years ago, but he was placed in a catetory with them 20 years ago. would you say Doom made music for teenagers?

Dog my brain retconned Apathy and all that Demigodz stuff over the years :dead:

I remember they used to run with the guy from Linkin Park.

That other group Styles of Beyond also had a couple joints
