Why are they delineating when they are Africans?
They are not delineating Christ, you guys used the most warped lens when analyzing race outside the U.S., what you think applies to you doesn’t apply to everyone. It’s called assimilation when ppl immigrate to a country permanently they tend to take up the characteristics of that nation be it food, language, or cultural behavior. Them calling themselves black “Brit’s, Scots, etc” is probably how the nation census defines their demographic. Nothing more and nothing less. UK census is actually really in depth it actually asks are you a black person from this country or region with this origin.

Also gotta add that when we were enslaved and brought to America...it was often Scottish and Irish immigrants along with existing Blacks, teaching us English. Most Black people last names are UK-based anyway.

Joe Frazier - Scottish

Cassius Clay - Irish

Uncle Luke Campbell - Scottish

Just a quick correction:

Him having that surname has nothing to do with the Scottish teaching his ancestors to read and write, and everything to do with Scottish slave owners owning his ancestors in Jamaica.

So FBA can’t be FBA and have to be Africans despite having a 400 year lineage to the land of America.

But Africans in Scotland with no lineage to the land can call themselves “Black Scottish”

This nikka do you not fukkin read? I literally just said “they are described based on how the NATION they are currently in describes their demographic” meaning that’s literally how they are described in the federal census of said country. nikka just glossed over everything I just said to plug this bs in

When filling out any document in either of the countries in the UK it will ask you if you are black Caribbean, black African under the umbrella of Black across all the countries in the UK I believe. I’m not sure how it’s done in America but it’s broken down that way here because we are all from somewhere but live here or are citizens of said country.

Come to think of it, an African American in the UK may have to fill the form out as Black “other”

So as a black person living here I am descended from x place.

That's what I mean. Slave masters and overseers. I don't mean it like they did us a favor.

What's crazy is many of these Scots spoke Gaelic first, so you got people speaking questionable English already....teaching west Africans how to speak English.

I personally don't like how black ethnic groups are broken down in the UK. I get the Black Caribbean, Black African and Black Other but it's lazy. South Asians get their distinct countries and ethnicities. They need to break it down further by countries and ethnicity.
Examples:
Black Caribbean then jot down what country and ethnicity, such as Jamaican, Barbadian, Trini, St Lucian, etc.
Black African then jot down what country and ethnicity, such as Nigerian, Ghanaian, Kenyan, Zimbabwean, Congolese, etc.

I haven’t really taken notice of the south Asian variations tbh but listing all 54 countries in Africa would be a long list. Maybe there are distinctive south Asian sub groups but a small number of them. Iunno tho.

Nah these fukkin jokes WRITE THEMSELVES, this shyt is so apparent everyone has taken notice.

@Caca-faat @King Static X @Kasgoinjail @MoshpitMazi

I think the attached is a very clear example of what I said earlier. The world is shocked that America is the richest and most influential country in the world and a large amount of its people loudly and proudly know absolutely nothing about how it works and those involved and how it affects them.

It’s embarrassing as a black person to see when some of those loud ignorant voices are other black people too. I don’t care about the white ones, I expect ignorance from them.

I remember as a kid when media used to show a lot of black exceptionalism, a lot of black university graduates, pro black families, back to Africa movements, black educators freedom fighters etc etc but now social media is a gift and a curse when ppl can show themselves vs controlled media. It is my own failing and naivety to not know that we come in ignorant too, I just thought the number was smaller. The black Scottish thing is not even the issue cos of exposure; but I take umbrage with this particular post/ tweet for some reason as it shows just how isolated y’all are as a people with this fake projection of globalism. The rest of the world knows sooooooooooo much about you through consumption of your own media because of this giant spotlight on you, through your own news and tv; when in turn Americans on a whole looks back at the world through a tiny key hole.
Someone on this board dm’d me about this particular topic saying “it’s not that we didn’t know about them we just don’t care” and that was the saddest thing I’ve ever heard as it’s indicative of a larger problem. Tbf every day on this board is a disappointment, the back and forth discourse, the division, the wilful ignorance of real ppl who chose to be their true selves behind the anonymity of a key board. This microcosm is a snapshot of the whole. The American propaganda machine did its job on some of you a lil too well. The experiment was a success or a failure depending on how you look at it I guess. It is very very very disheartening.
Mods lock this thread down please, I’ve had enough. I’m tired and I just woke up.

Scotland History Tours

Here's a whole YouTube history channel headed up by a Black Scotsman! Bruce is great! he's also a comedian so his history stuff is still pretty fun.

He's got some videos on more black centric stuff too vis a vis the relationship with Scotland, I can't recommend his channel enough.

Also he gives Scottish nationalist vibes/Republican (UK) which is a huge plus where the UK is involved 😂

│ Was waiting for someone to mention Bruce. He's great.

│ Oh and also still a working tour guide, so you can hire him to show you around.
