It's a complicated issue.

Money is often cited to be the biggest reason for divorce.
Well you can go down the rabbit hole as to why that's such a problem.
They say statistically men make more money, but women are the primary spenders in the household. So if finances are a problem, there's a big time argument as to who is responsible...and by extension (fairly or unfairly) who is responsible for the divorce.

Then you have the supposed stability of marriages from people who go to college and marry later.
Well why is that?
They are more financially stable? Perhaps.
Do they tend to have less children (presumably because they work and travel more?). Perhaps. That would ease the financial strain.

But it would be interesting to see the satisfaction and quality of a marriage between two people who are older, college-educated professionals who put off marriage and starting a family. How does that impact the family? How does that impact the children?

I'm not out to make any statements, but you have to suspect if this delayed marriage trend (which is fine), probably just starts the clock to divorce at a later time...and that's why you may be seeing the increase in Gray Divorce.

Certainly a man or woman might feel some resentment at giving up their careers and income (and by some extension, decision-making powers) later on in life.

I'm only pondering though.
As a guy approaching his mid-30s, I sometimes wonder if getting married is worth it.

its kids, kids are so expensive.

If you are married to someone and both ar eworking even basic jobs its so easy to live a good life, have a apartment/;condo a little pet, nice appliances, eat out and travel.

its when kids get into the equation, daycare or wife quits her job and stays home suddenly say two people making 90k combined its now only one dude making 50, dude is stressed out bills over his head, they start to fight im going to live with my moms

or dude works ot, not home alot she feels distanced and hits up a ex on facebook

most of these people marrying in their 30s have no kids and probably wont end up having kids or if they jdo jsust one, most people who marry in their twenties end up having kids early and dont move up the corporate ladder
